The 2008 Grammy awards might be canceled

The Grammys uesd to be my favorite awards show of the year, but it had become as bad as the others with the exception of a few live performances (Fewer every year). As many awards as they announce as having been presented earlier in recent years, they might as well cancel the show anyway.

I won't miss any of the awards shows being off this year, and I hope it becomes an annual event. :D

Will the Grammys be doing what the Golden Globe Awards did and that is having the host announcing who won and the winners with their awards and speeches through teleprompters?

There are over 100 awards handed out at the Grammys; the meaningless ones like Polka Album, Spoken Word Album, etc. are during the pre-telecast ceremony while the big ones (Record of the Year, New Artist, Male/Female Pop Vocal Performance, etc.) are saved for the main show.

Does it say anything about the current state of music when all I care about are the awards they hand out off of television?

WOW!!! Glad to see I am not the only one who feels the same way about The Grammy's... Back in the 80's and early 90's The Grammy's was a good sit down and watch award show, but now it is all about who can spew out their political crap...... If it does happen no big loss for me either... CC1

So basically the Writer's Guild realized the Grammys are an IMPORTANT award and everyone would cross their picket line to pick up their Grammy and they didn't want to be embarrassed by that.
