The 6 hour note

Saturday night, I settled in for a night's rest after attending the Bruce Hornsby/Rickey Scaggs concert at the Kirby. My wife got it wrong, she said it was going to be Boz Scaggs. So I sat there listening to two very talented gentllemen who played music from two of my least favorite genres, jazz piano and blue grass. I get home and decide to give 95.3 the Gem a shot because my wife doesn't like the WARM signal. After midnight, I hear the first note of what appears to be Junior Walker and the All Stars. THe note keeps playing over and over. When the alarm rings at 6am sunday, the note and the problem still was there. I brought a dissimilar issue with WARM last fall and people on the board thought I was being petty. Not so. Even after midnight, there are people listening. They may be hearing your product for the first time. Or in this case, the last. A radio station needs to be monitored, just to make sure your product does the basics, like stay on the air.
Still love the oldies and still love the station.

As I mentioned once on NYRMB, it's called "professionalism." There are no petty issues in professionalism. Whether it's a net join, having something cued just in case, or station personnel checking the signal during automation, you want the station to sound great.

How ironic would it be if the song in question is "What Does It Take?"

So Dave how was the show at the Kirby?

I'm thinking I'm going to see Boz Scaggs. "Lowdown", "Dinah Flo", "Jo Jo", remembering how when WGBI FM flipped in '76 how they played the heck out of "Lowdown". And there's no Boz Scaggs. Then about 15 minutes in, I'm thinking, "wait a minute, this is Ricky Scaggs". No Boz Scaggs. The show was wonderful, both men, Rickey and Bruce were excellent. But it wasn't my brand of tea. And with seeing the Pope next day in New York, I could've ued those two hours the night before. But I was more greedy than shrewd, my wife offered to go with a girl friend but all I was thinking was center, row G. Good show but not for me, which is why I needed a fix of oldies. And I think that song was indeed "What Does It Take".
