The 9 Lives of Yetta Gibson

Well, ftvlive is reporting that Yetta Gibson may soon reappear at...wait for it...CBS 5, involved with the morning news show. At last count, Yetta has worked for Fox 10, 3TV, and ABC 15.

I thought they were dumping the morning news in favor of a GMAZ simulcast until 7 AM.

Someone on this board did mention that, but ftvlive appears to state the contrary (although in all fairness the ftvlive article is on the speculative side).

I was wondering if CBS 5 might take a "GMAZ-lite" approach with a separate anchor team, but with shared elements with GMAZ. They could even call it "GMAZ on CBS 5" or something like that.

Interesting. According to ftvlive, Yetta was "bounced" and "fired" from 3TV. I thought she never came back from her maternity leave and quit. Looking forward to seeing how this will work out.

Was that under Belo or Sander ownership? Maybe Meredith has a much higher opinion of her work.

Based on the ftvlive post, it sounds like the common denominator was that Cameryn Beck, formerly of 3TV and now at ABC 15, was not a huge fan of Yetta. Also, there is a pic of Yetta with the GMAZ team that was posted on Yetta's Facebook page.

That's got to be uncomfortable/painful: leaving a job because of the news director. Getting a new job and then the news director joins that company.

Picture of Yetta with GMAZ crew was posted on her Facebook page July 20th. She used a hashtag of #CBS5az. I wonder how KPHO is going to implement this? Replace Nicole Crites (she's great)? Paul Horton (never liked him, go back to just doing weather)? Picking up Pat McReynolds duties (he was solid)?

This should be interesting, because I don't see a natural fit with the current newsteam. Perhaps Paul will take Pat McReynolds' place and Yetta will be the "features" reporter for CBS5 from 4:30am to 7am (like Paul used to do). And, then, Yetta could continue reporting over on 3TV after 7am. Who knows?

I agree with brian4 about Pat McReynolds. He is a solid anchor, but unfortunately never stood out. I bet he would have done very well on weekend GMAZ paired with Jaime Cerreta (assuming that Ryan is actually going to leave for Knoxville -- or has that been cancelled?)

tvspy.com has confirmed that Yetta Gibson has been hired as the morning anchor at KPHO. Great news! I like Yetta's enthusiasm.

Ryan's last weekend gig was this past weekend. He stated his wife and kids had already made the trip to Knoxville (or Knox-vull as he will soon pronounce it).

No. Just no. The first time she talked about herself in the third person ("Yetta is back!") is the last time I paid attention to her.
