The ABC vs the FCC war of words has escalated…

Here is another one Disney issues a similar response for KTRK-TV because their license was targeted for equal time equal access rule related to "The View" episode on a Texas Senate candidate. KABC-TV was targeted because of Trump and Carr targeting Jimmy Kimmel's show and is filmed in the LA area.
 

Here is a clip of Disney doing a call to action and petitioning the FCC to keep KABC-TV Los Angeles on the air. Yes KABC-TV license is being targeted given that the main offices of Disney is in the area.
For I’m not sure what number of times this is, it has *nothing* to do with the “main Disney offices.” The main Disney offices are not in Philadelphia. Nor Chicago. Nor the other markets where Disney has an O&O.

So no, that license is not being targeted for its location. It is among a set of licenses being challenged because of the owner, and content not to the regime’s liking.

And again, these are not market specific issues. To try to suggest this is about a specific The View episode is simply not accurate in the least. They are attacking all the licenses.
 
"The Wonderful World of Disney" is supposed to be family-friendly. Ideally, that would be TV-G, but TV-PG is necessary in some cases. Once you have to raise it to TV-14, it is no longer famiy-friendly.
It’s supposed to showcase primarily content under the larger Disney umbrella of studios. That’s it. Whatever fantasy you have about it supposedly being something else is pure fiction. It’s a movie night franchise that often serves as a promotional vehicle for an upcoming release. And not all families live by whatever arbitrary TV rating is applied. Many of us don’t. It’s 2026, not 1956.

The WWOD banner was revived a few years back for Sunday nights (when sports isn’t airing). For a time, it was the summer and fall Sunday night programming, when Idol took the slot in winter/spring.

Movies vary widely. Maybe a Pixar movie one week, Star Wars another, something else another week. Not exclusively from the Disney studio brand, but k all the studios under their umbrella. When something from Disney is hitting theatres, like Toy Story 5, they’ll run something related ahead of the release quite often (à la Tou Story 4).

It’s fundamentally a throwback to the old movie of the week nights on the networks, simply branded with the Wonderful World of Disney name.

No. I believe the show open pays homage to that with a brief audio clip of Walt, but while they draw on the name’s heritage it’s more of a modern take on the old brand. After the brief branded open, it’s straight to the movie. With plenty of Disney ads, to be sure.
 

Here is more fallout on the battle between the FCC and Disney this time with the FCC getting a barrage of Public comment filings.
There also some comments posted in the wrong docket. Some people submitted comments in support of Disney in the Bridge News early license renewal docket instead of the Disney one.
