The Adventures of Chickenman

Okay some of you oldtimers, correct me if I am wrong........Wasn't Chickenman on WUBE in '67 before Drake started programming them? I know some of you guys know for SURE!

Not sure if WUBE ared Chickenman since it was before my time, but I do remember WVXU airing The Adventures of Chickenman back when they played oldies in the afternoon. That would have been early to mid 80's I would guess.

A Part 15 AM station called XRB AM 1610 in Brownsburg, IN airs this feature daily during their live morning show. No kidding. You can listen via their internet stream if you wish to hear it again.

I once had an aircheck of 123-WB from about 1966 with a Chickenman episode on it. Definitely pre-Drake. Being that I lived in New York State at that time, I can't give you any other info on the dates.

Yes, WUBE ran Chickenman with their "All American" imaging which just might have been their most successful format run against WSAI. Unfortunately "All American" was dumped at its peak in favor of Drake.

"ChickennnnnMannn...he's everywhere, he's everywhere!...brought to you by Frisch's Big Boy Restaurant"

Does anyone know how well WUBE ever did against WSAI? How well did its predecessor WCPO do against WSAI?

I don't have the figures anymore but they did badly against WSAI. SAI was so big in Cincinnati that there was a time when their baseball team, the Nutty Nine actually had better attendance then the Cincinnati Reds at a game or two.. The story was that when Danny Kaye owned WUBE Bill Drake promised that he could put them on top of the ratings. It didn't happen. Great format,,,lousy signal. Nightime you couldn't even pick it up in all the the city. 250 watts. It was Drake's first failure.

SAI had the teen audience locked up and they had some great jocks that tool them to the top.
