The "(Al) Mighty" 1090

It seems as if the Mighty 1090 -- Home of Motown, Soul, and Rock n Roll has become the almighty 1090 with Christian talk and music.. I noticed today 06/04/07 at about Noon.

I thought something might be up with this station since I took a trip to the Tri-cities about a month or so ago and never heard any oldies on 1090 at all, just talk. I don't even remember what they were talking about.

I guess East TN will just have to live with "Mighty 670" in Farragut.

I'm confused. Is there a 1090 on the air in Knoxville now? The only thing that would come close would be WQBB 1040 AM.

There was a WMTY Mighty 1090 (now WCZZ) in Greenwood, SC, put on by the Upstate's broadcasting legend himself, Wally Mullinax. In fact, Mighty 1090 was the inspiration for the name Mighty 670 in Farragut/Knoxville.

Just a sidenote, Wally was also one of the original folks involved in the startup of legendary 92.5 WESC (Greenville, SC).

You have to go with the technical city - Kingsport. Note that they have the 10,000 watts while Greenwood only has 5,000 watts.
