The Alabama On Air Association?????? Hands... Anyone????

http://www.al-ba.com

The above address is the alabama broadcasters assn.
It seems that this is a great association for owners and managers... but what about the jocks...

Why do we not have a voice... If you are a Jock, work on-air or board op. why don't we all get together. Start a group that will protect our needs... a group that can fight for our rights. anyone up for this? Not a union, but an association that would protect the jocks... I don't think the ABA does anything for the jocks or looks out for our rights. I could be wrong.. just haven't seen anything that would indicate any involvement.

On Air People Need A Voice!

Hey Skipper, while I am not currently on air anywhere, I have been in the past and will probably be in the future and I think it is a hell of an idea. I don't think radio management, for the most part, gives a crap about jocks so someone should be there to step in in a dispute and you're right, the ABA is clueless when it comes to jocks. L8R..

Part 2

I've had some people who know me call and say, "Great Idea"
some people i've seen on the street who liked the idea...
EVERONE save one "out of town guy" said, "I afraid to do that." or "We'll all get fired." Have any of you ever seen "On The Waterfront"... Brando took a beating but in the end he walked onto the dock under his own power.

?anyone?

the secret is to save enough money to start
your own station (or buy an existing station,
which you'd need some serious $$$ to do....)

then the next step is to have terrific sales
people....cause without them....it's hard to
make it.

then giving the listeners what they want?
jocks know *exactly* how to do that.

maybe one day we'll have the "big corporate
bust" and the listeners will get their stations
back.

until then....well.....you know what we have.
