The All New "SHINE 1220"

I just discovered this radio station this week. I've got to say that even though music on AM is a dying breed, Shine 1220 has a lot of energy. I like what I hear.

"Energy" beats the hell out of radio complacency, don't you think? There seems to be a lot of that going around these days! ::)

I wish I could pick up the 1220frequency in my corner of Maine! I'm sure I'd like it? :)

What is this? I'd never heard of it until this post. Tuned it in on a crappy little radio on my desk and it comes in just fine.

"Shine" as in "Son Shine"?

or....

"Shine" as in "short for 'moonshine'"?

the station's owners are a joke

The East Providence radio station is owned by some holy roller church in Seekonk. The church also airs their services on WNAC Fox 64 each Sunday morning.

The way this church handled the takeover of 1220 AM was highly unprofessional. They told the now-former owners they would alert them ahead of time as to when the takeover would happen. No such luck. The Church forced their way in without warning one day, and kicked everyone out, with very little time to gather their belongings. If the employees didn't cater to the Church's demands, they threatened the former 1220 AM employees with arrest for Tresspassing.

I placed a telephone call to the Church the day after the takeover, and I told them how I felt they conducted themselves. The woman on the phone was very nice, but refused to answer questions. She told me if I had a problem with the Church or the Station, I should contact the Church's attorneys. I heard of some sort of protest the now-former employees and program hosts were supposed to have at the Church in Seekonk, but I don't know if it ever happened.

Quite Frankly no one understands what really happened that day when the church took over the 1220 station. The Pastor of the church most definitely gave the owner notice as to when they were going to take over the station. The former owner failed to communicate with his workers and as a result were still there when the time came. It would be greatly appreciated if people would stop talking bad about his church, they have a great vision and have many plans to do some wonderful things. God Bless

You are obviously a support of this church and probably a member.

What this church did to long time broadcasters was wrong and unforgiveable. They sure alientated alot of people in the listening area.
