In its Hey-Day WNAK was a commerical verison of public supported radio, between its WNAK fan club, Bob Nielson's commentaries and the no commerical Sundays...Bob had something that worked for people. Listerners knew they were getting something no one else was providing and WNAK pulled some great numbers. Especially for a daytimer with a signal that was stronger to the south in the bloomsburg than is was to the north in scranton.

AMs face an uphill battle. There was a guy at Rt 81 in the plush studios in downtown Hazelton who worked his butt off. Rocky Brown. He did everything and held it together longer than it should have. Rocky had a passion for radio and doing more with it than anyone could have. In fact Rocky stayed on and protected the station even when Ira threw him under the bus. In fact Ira was such a class act when the manager canned Rocky he went to see Ira who told Rocky he's be right with him and sneaked out the back door. That's the problem with AM the trash who own them.

AM Radio can still make a come back,you just need the right sales and programming team.
WNAK was on the right track when they started,hopefully they can get things going again,as for WARM,its too bad CITADEL doesn't
seem to care , It would be a tragedy if they ever ''pulled the plug' on the station.
I was visiting a radio buddy of mine in Philadelphia a few weeks ago,he works part time for WBCB-AM in Bucks County,
this station is proof that AM can still make it,they have a rather eclectic music format,along with alot of paid programming,
tons of local sports,and they are LIVE 24/7!

WBCB is a great little station. It's at 1490 when you get down North of Philadelphia.

I should have said that it basically serves the Trenton market.
