The Annoying CBS News Coffee Mug

I don't know if anybody else has noticed this, but there is a CBS News coffee mug strategically placed on the anchor desk with Scott Pelley. I say strategically placed because somebody is actually turning the thing between shots so the CBS News logo is always facing whichever camera happens to be on at the time. I think they are trying to make it Pelley's trademark... it instead seems like distraction.

I'm noticing it as well. Definitely some oversized print on that mug. CBS NEWS.

Interesting. Usually it's the local or national morning shows that show off coffee mugs at the anchor desk. Either they think we've suddenly forgotten what news they are, or Scott Pelley's already getting that 2:30 feeling after less than a week on the job 8)

Now see, I read this title and immediately knew better than to click through and indulge this observational asininity. But I did it anyway.

No one to blame but myself, really.

I have not noticed the cup during the newscasts. Scott Pelley has a distinguishing characteristic (or trademark) all ready: the way he holds a pen close to his face.

now if he fills the cup live on-air while reading a live spot for Folgers,
television will have come full-circle in just over sixty years.
