The annual "Alice's Restaurant" radio watch..

Just like a good dinner, lots of football, here's where the rock based formatted radio stations get a chance to show their stuff by the annual tradition of playing "Alice's Restaurant", usually at noon.. Cheers to the stations that get it.. Jeers to the stations that blow it off.. Let the good list grow !

HATE the song....always have. Any station that DOESN'T play it is fine by me. Why is this a 'tradition' anyways. The song is soooo boring and long. I never got it.

I don't hate the song, but it is kinda dated IMHO. I also wonder how many people really care if you play it or not.

The lengthy is the issue. Something about a Vietnam protest song these days....does seem dated. I mean, maybe a classic rock or classic hits station could play it....but thats it. If it was updated to be about Iraq would't that be interesting.....but considering the song it based on a true story.....doubtful.

We've already played it, and will a couple more times tomorrow. 10 o'clock tomorrow night they'll still be begging for it.

As for the other matter, the wars may change, but the issues remain the same, particularly with occasional talk of the resumption of the draft.

Triple-A WMWV-FM in NoCo NH is playing it today. Our skiing DJ Roy Prescott will let loose with it at least once during the morning show.

Is WBLM playing it this year?

Wow.. just heard the song in glorious amplitude modulation on WSYB Rutland.. I know they do this every year.

It looks like Frank in Barre is playing it...from the website,

"Frank Celebrates Thanksgiving at Alice's Restaurant
Be a Part of the Tradition! Listen for Arlo Guthrie's-Alice's Restaurant, Thanksgiving Day in the 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm hours."

According to the Champ website, they are playing it at Midnight, 6am, 9am, noon and 3pm

No other radio station website in Burlington mentions it

Actually southern New England (though we're not all that far from the NH border) but WMWM Salem MA
will play it right after the annual Beverly-Salem football game. WZLX in Boston usually plays it and I'd
guess WUMB folk radio will too.

The "Traditionalists".. so far.. In my reception palace..
WCPV / WCVR Burlington and beyond..
WEQX 102.7 Manchester / Albany
WCLX 102.9 Westport NY
WNCS 104.7 etc.
WEBK 105.3 Killington
WIZN 106.7 Burlington
WSYB 1380 Rutland

The "Turkeys" so called so far..
WHDQ 106.1 Claremont
WEXP 101.5 Rutlland.."

Add one more station to the "Alice's Restaurant" radio watch..... non-commercial oldies WXRB-FM/95.1 (Dudley/Webster, MA) will be running Arlo's epic novel at 2:00 PM. It's a special song for me as I used to live "just a half a mile from" the church, in Great Barrington, MA. It will be a yearly tradition on 'XRB, for sure.
