The Arangos Buy a Translator

In a move uncommon for the Arango family, Siga Broadcasting has purchased the construction permit for 93-1 K226BY Huntsville from Gerald R. Proctor for $40,000. This marks the first translator purchased by Siga, to my knowledge. Of course, they own KGBC & KLVL here, KTMR & KAML near San Antonio, and a couple more up in the Metroplex. Houston would be the shortest distance the translator would have to move if it leaves Huntsville, which certainly seems likely.

So, now we sit and wait. What could be up Gabriel Arango's sleeve?

First adjacent to KKBQ and KQBU, so no chance of moving into Houston metro without a frequency change. And the Houston FM band is pretty much full.

Suddenly, the Arangos have gone on a Christmas shopping spree.

From RadioInsight:
Siga Broadcasting is acquiring three Texas translators from David Cunningham for a combined $100,000. 96.3 K242BG Woodville, 99.9 K260AS Jasper, and 102.3 K272EB Woodville will eventually be paired with Siga’s AM’s in the Dallas and Houston suburbs.

Not sure what kind of maneuvering will be needed considering each of these are adjacent or co-channel with already licensed facilities, but which of these can we expect to light up down here? Seems obvious one will be used to rebroadcast KLVL, given KGBC already being linked up with K291CE for "Hum FM" programming. Perhaps this is why KLVL has been left to loop that message for the past couple of weeks.

KCOH AM/FM Radio & TV, perhaps? Would fit the bill for "exciting signal and frequency upgrades", now wouldn't it?
