Entercom New Orleans has let go 2 and demoted 1

Cheryl Lewis - Receptionist
Pal Al Nassar - WLMG Jock and Special Affairs Director

Darlene Adams - WLMG Sales Manager

to be continued...

Pal Al..You &%$#@* You cant get rid of a legend. Thats it. Radio off forever in New Orleans!

hate that for Al,he's a great guy.Broadcast stocks are in the crapper along with the economy.More cuts to come i'm sure.Pray for your broadcast brothers, times are tough.Bad economy, huge debt service, hard to make that work for the best.rf

No worst part is Pal looses his dad and a job in the same month time... Kick a guy when he's down already :'(

Hopefully Weerdo or someone got a place for him

Feel horrible for Pal, just got off the phone with him. Sucks. I wish I had room to get him on, but there's belt tightening underway everywhere. Thank God we're a private company and not at the mercy of Wall Street. But this downturn is going to get much more serious before it gets better...gonna be a wild roller coaster ride for all, and it's not just radio. Hold on.

Sorry to hear about Pal Al being let go. Along with a demotion of a sales manager and firing a receptionist that was probably being paid minimum wage, that is going to make a BIG dent in the Entercom budget. Yeah Boy. Never really listened to Al on Magic because it is simply too boring, but met him back in his WCKW days in the 90’s. Nice guy but that’s who they seem to get rid of first. And, what impeccable timing from those worthless, corporate management suck-ups. It’s anybody and anything to save their precious salary.

I would have loved to have been in on that meeting when they told him. “We know you just lost your last surviving parent only three weeks ago but with economic cuts, we’re going to terminate our relationship with you. We are going in a different direction by making the last two jocks double up on their duties but cut their salaries and fill your position with someone else. Do you remember the way to the elevator? And by the way, when is the memorial service for your dad?” And who is this Andy James wannabe, who has the personality of a cypress knee? That’s a real slap in the face, putting someone that lame in his place. It’s like listening to fingernails running down a chalkboard.

If Entercom wanted to make some serious headway in budget cutbacks, get rid of the deadwood on WWL. Show some onions, start by putting Boob Mitchell out to pasture. That old cow is WAY past his time and couldn’t do anything without riding other people’s coattails. I heard him Thursday afternoon with Hokie Gajan…the Joke and the Poke. Going into a commercial break, he said they would next be talking with someone from the Carolina Panthers but couldn’t recall him name. Nice prep, pal. It turns out to be a beat writer for the Charlotte Observer. The man has no clue. Then, he hosts a home improvement show, please. Lose Tucker while you’re at it too. His self-indulgent sense of humor or lack there of, is only funny to himself. Maybe Boomtown could use him as a standup after the bands to clear out the joint. Losing those two would save a boatload of beans and there’s more walking the halls.

According to a story on All-Access Thursday, Entercom has been swinging the budget machete in Sacramento, Portland, Boston, Milwaukee, Denver and Kansas City. It’s mainly poor, on air folks and producers. Why not lose Kaplan in Seattle? Oh I forgot, that’s Uncle Pat’s boy. Never mind. Plus, they are moving management into programming positions? Bright, considering they’re biggest the reason business has gone south. Trim some of the corporate fat and it might seem believable.

I’ll be impressed when some of the management and scum-sucking corporate pigs get slaughtered but I’m sure they’ll be saved to the end. I hope they took a bath with their stock options. (Closed at 1.40 and removed from the S&P) It couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of folks who benefitted from the sweat of others and destroyed the business of radio. Ms. Field has done his father proud. My guess, there will be a fire sale by the end of the year or she’ll look to Congress for a bailout. The corporate yahoos made their bed. Now they get to sleep in the soiled sheets from all of their BS they have been dishing out. Sweet dreams folks.

And like smashedcd said, it’s over. Entercom has thrown the last shovel on their grave and brought a lot of good folks under with them. What a classless act!

The Pal IS A LEGEND....

Continue
I hope some LOCAL OWNER(S) start a ROCK STATION in New Orleans and hire The Pal and bring back Tommy B on board and BLAST THE BALLS OFF BAYOU, LIKE THE LEVETS DID TO THE COSTELLOS BACK IN THE 80'S(WCKW VS WRNO)
And Walton & Johnson? They've LOST THEIR SUBSTANCE since the dismissal of JAY HOOKS, who if it weren't for him, W&J would have been blasted off the air long ago.
One more great radio guy-KENNY WILKERSON-I hope WIST picks him up, along with a TRUE SAINTS QUARTERBACK JOHN FOURCADE(WS THE QUARTERBACK IN 1991 WHEN THE SAINTS MADE THE PLAYOFFS, NOT THE CAJUN CANNON), have their own sports show and KNOCK THE JOCKS OFF OF WWL AND BOBBY HEBERT(BIG CHIEF IS A GOOD GUY AND KEEPS IT REAL AS ALWAYS)

ps. ATTENTION LEVET BROTHERS-BUY YOUR OLD STATION BACK WHILE THE STOCK MARKET IS DOWN AND SWITCH IT BACK TO ROCK-I GUARANTEE IT WILL BE SUCCESSFUL..........................

As far as I know the Levetts have diversified themselves completely out of radio

I was talking to someone recently, and mentioned that both KRDJ (93.7 New Iberia) and KYRK (104.1 Houma) are both great signals that are up for sale and if combined with a knowledgeable and talented group could recapture what everyone loved about 92.3 and become South Louisiana's true rock station (basically covering 4 of the top 5 metros in Louisiana)

RFLA

I hear a lot of radio news operations these days have cut their News Directors in order to save a buck, instead going with Managing Editors. Just ask the folks at WLS/Citadel.

Not saying that's what will happen, but hasn't New Orleans had enough of that ego-maniac Cohen blowing everything out of proportion??

Bob Mitchell was let go today.

Radio got listenable again (slightly) by this move. I listened tonight and heard a guy in his place, Todd Menasses. Can't ever recall hearing him before and doesn't sound bad but is he another one in a management position forced on the air by the move?

The man finally ran out of coattails to ride on. Maybe now he can focus on spend time in the political arena. Seeing how, on the air, he spoke of his support of Obama and how he always had money in his pocket when the democrats were in office. Not the brightest comment on a conservative station and maybe the final nail, pal. So where will he end up and who will he try to milk now? And who really cares but maybe, oldiesstation, who posts he's a radio genius. Well, now's your chance to belly up to the bar and offer your idol, mentor and hero employment. He's done in radio, Amen!

So, who's next in the Entercom salary guillotine...Lil' Tubby Tucker, David Cohn or even maybe Bob Delgerno? Why pay that BIG salary when he is only working four days a week? When I listen, the lady, Monica sounds like she could hold her own by herself and does on occasion. People listen in the morning for news, traffic and sports. Not for an overpaid host.

Maybe they got tired of having to look at Mitchell's gross nose hairs that hung down out of this nose about 1/2 inch.

Fire em all!

New Orleans radio will be just fine without da pal. Never approved of how he conducted himself within the radio stations. He liked to "muckrake" and gossip and cut down coworkers he didn't like, especially women.

Here's a quick imitation of Da Pal...
Aw, yeah, dere a little TP (Tom Petty) and da boys...
Aw yeah, little EC (Eric Clapton) and da boys

Always with the boys ::)

Entercom needs a good housecleaning--top to bottom. Fire em all, but if you can't, at least get rid of tucker & delgiornio.

oldies station is definitely a Bob Mitchell cheerleader. He was always at his defense when anything negative was posted about his guru and got personal about it, too. So, where are his pom-poms now? Now that he's been axed, maybe he'll be able to cash in any stock options Entercom might have tossed his way over the years and buy a poboy & a tank of gas, if he's lucky. Plus, he'll have to time to sit in on his cousin Vinny's trial in Lafayette. Good riddance, pal.

Rex, like mama used to say, if you don't have anything nice to say keep your mouth shut. For shame. Kick a man when he's down. May instant karma get you...sign your real name to your post so everyone knows which mean horrible frustrated person you are...

Lots of radio people are losing their jobs because of the current state of the economy and those large dollars corporate radio paid for some of these properties. As i posted a long time ago,the chickens will(have) come home to roost. If it makes some of you guys feel better to post negative comments about Bob or others so be it.Bob like Al are great guys,do they have faults, sure,DO YOU?? Let's rise above all this petty crap and pray for eachother and leave the judging to a higher power.
