The B Returns!

After 5 years of being gone from the Jersey Shore Radio Dial. The World Famous and Ledgendary B-98.5 Returns this Thursday @ 3PM while Thunder moves to 106.3/106.5 sadly we don't get a strong signal. :(

I know I'm jumping the gun here, but why is everyone getting so excited about this?

Here's the equation: Hit 106 - Matt Knight (the best thing about that station) = The "New" B98.5

Same bland music, same dull (or irritating) personalities - all that has changed is the location and the name.

There was a lot of Top 40 music around during the years that B was here, and there's even more now (the difference between CHR and so-called "Hot ACs" these days is miniscule). What set B98.5 apart was its DJs, the way it reached out to the community through charity work and numerous other events, and its willingness to branch out and try new things (like the alternative slant it took when no one else was playing that music). I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you're not going to see any of these things here, nor are you going to get any of the personalities from the original B98.5 (unless some changes are being made that I'm not aware of). B98.5 is going to be your standard, garden variety Top 40. And given the minimal coverage it has along with the weak personalities, I expect it to get half the ratings of Hit 106.

Press should just do Ocean County a big favor and sell the station. There's a lot of good formats out there, and I know they're not going to take a chance on them due to their utter ineptitude ... if they can screw up running a popular alternative rock format, they can screw up just about anything. As it stands right now, they're just going to keep losing money as Top 40 also-rans.

Just heard their moving promo. I had to hear it twice because Harry Legg did the promo. Siunds like He will be the VO for B I'm guessing?
