The barking dogs of Cat Country

Why do Air Personalities on Cat Country have to yell and scream while talking over bumper music of non-country hit songs. The presentation is way too fast. Why can't they mellow out? WHy can't I hear a smooth, calm, voice, backselling and speaking like a human being? What is the appeal in this speeded up presentation?

The presentation is of a CHR Station, that is what country stations look for and act on these days. It's not your mom and dads country music anymore.

Much of the area can pick up WXTU and WCTO. WXTU is the old AC-style country station & comes across slow & boring next to the more uptempo approach of WCTO. Cat seems to be trying to reach more than the 30-something female audience XTU goes after. Sometimes Cat is over the top but at least not playing the same recurrents over & over like XTU. At least for many of us there's a choice.

I think you have the stations switched. It's more common to hear the same recurrents again and again on WCTO.

That really says a lot for the listening audience. What is wrong with people? Why is this barking appealing? Is proper announcing a lost art? The answer is obviously yes.

Hey, some people may not really care. The average listener I am talking about. This is your opinion.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: "Cat Country 96" VS. everyone else

I have never heard a more agresive presentation of Country music done anywhere
else.
WCTO seems to be like a Country CHR from what I've noted. Country is not my music of choice, and I'm going on what I hear while recrding airchecks for people.
I have listen f o the folowing stations which I can get at home either via tropo or as a local.
From Bensalem, PA I get
92.5 WXTU Philadelphia, PA
92.9 WDSB Duvver, DE
96.1 WCTO Allentown, PA
99.9 WWFG Ocean City, MD
107.3 WPUR Atlantic City, NJ
Only on Cat Country 96, have I heard such a presentation.
John: If what you are saying is correct about Country being more CHR like these days, wouldn't some of the country stations I get be adopting the Cat Country approach?
I've also noted that the country stations in Centural florida are not like WCTO either...
Inlighten me, please?
Thanks,
John
