The BBBBB-IIIII-GGGGG Announcement!

So, what's the BIG announcement going to be Monday morning on WDBO??? Could it be everyone has finally learned how to say the word "temperature" and not talk about the "tem-pa-cher" or "temp-cher"? Could it be they have finally seen the wisdom in not playing those stupid 911 calls where you can't make out what's being said anyway? Could it be somebody's going away? Could it be somebody's coming back...somebody who shouldn't have been fired in the first place? So, what is it???

WDBO 580 AM will be dropping the simulcast with 96.5 FM and change to all sports as the ESPN Radio affiliate in thr market. We will now have 4 sports stations.

I found that "brewery" is a very difficult word last week as I was reading this underwriting. :D

kind of makes sense ... if they're smart make Scott Anaz the 3-6pm host who can still lead in to the Magic games - he's a pro and could pull a 3 hour local sports show. Question is, are they going to be 24/7 ESPN or do more local hosting ... or pick up other sports - even NASCAR isn't in O'town. Downside is I think if the keep the Magic on the AM only then the FM is going to swelter in the basement come nighttime.

I hope they keep the magic on fm. It's 100000 times better on FM. It will be interesting to see how this one works out.

It'll be no big deal. They aren't hiring someone who shouldn't have been fired-they'll never pay the freight for that/

It's Clark in middays and DBO am goes sports...(yawn)

Another thought. Wonder if this station will focus on the magic a lot more? Given that WDBO is the flagship for the magic? I hope so. I enjoy the local sports talk shows like magic drive time and stuff like that. Even if the magic is only on the am that is OK. 580 has some of the better AM audio in this market. Plus we do have the solar bares minor league hockey starting up soon as well and they will need a play by play station for it as well. Just some thoughts.

Good call TomBenson--can SOMEONE teach that yo-yo that the word is 'depend'?? That's bothered me for years. I figured that Marsha is just too scared to correct him...

So, according to true broadcast journalism and pronunciation, it's "de-pend", not "dipend" on it...

WDBO AM is picking up ESPN Radio..Da-pend on it!

Great. I enjoyed that 30 to 45 minute window in the evenings when I could hear news about my old area. Now - pffft. Another slob sports station.

To me, Neal Boortz is by far the most entertaining of WDBO's daytime offerings. I'm sorry to see his slot being reduced to two hours. It's hard to believe that's what the audience "asked for". When he retires in January, I'll seek an alternative on another station. Herman Cain doesn't hold my interest.

It will be good to have Clark Howard back where he was. His program is enjoyable and very informative.

The second most entertaining thing - for me - is hearing which words in a sentence Marsha Taylor will choose to emphasize and which ones she will "swallow". This morning, I heard that something (unintelligible) happened two weeks AGO. She once read that someone had been apprehended AFTER robbing a bank (That seems appropriate...). Another female news reader (perhaps her apprentice) recently reported the story of the TSA missing a gun in a firefighter's handBAG.
