the bear and wanda

Good question. Her picture is still up on the website. I hope no change has been made. If they take her off, I'll stop listening.

Wanda has decided to move back to her hometown in Tenn and be with her family. We did a week of goodbyes to her two weeks ago and then a huge final day on Friday of that week. We will miss her but understand her feelings and wish her well. She was with the Bear for eight years to the week when she left. Both Chuck and I will tell you that she kept the place on the tracks the entire time she was with the station. We love her and want what is best for her.

Even better question: WHO is Wanda?

Wanda is one of the sweetest women ever made by Gawd.
Most recently she did mid days on The Bear 92.5 on the southside. Now for all who complain here about cookie cutter radio and cookie cutter radio "personalities" Wanda would have been yer gal.
For many of the years I worked at The Bear she ran the office.....did traffic, continuity....made sure the Prozac was available to those who needed it....as Joe said, "she kept the wheels on the track." On the weekends she worked with a band, whose name still escapes me, and she rocked mightily - she had a set of singin' pipes!
When Joe bought the station Wanda started doing middays. And she was a natural.....not slick and polished like most Atlanta jocks....but a real communicator. There was just something "likable" about Wanda and you got that on the air too. I doubt they ever got a single complaint about her show - she was just one of those people you would like to sit and have lunch with.....
All that, and curves to kill too!
I wish more people would find The Bear and give it a listen. Joe is really trying to produce what so many of us on this board say we want from radio....real people doing real service through local, community oriented radio. And it's not always perfect.....sometimes it's not even good....but sometimes it's great - downright electric - and it's always about the people and events happening locally.
Great job Joe - your efforts benefit not just you and your company but the community as a whole. And great job to Uncle Rich, Wanda, and all the rest.(I exclude the mornings - Moby bites)
BTW....glad to hear Les Reed is back home at The Bear.

Happened to catch the Bear recently while traveling through the area.

Definitely a good station, Joe, and we enjoyed hearing local voices on the air. Kudos!

Tom, you had a really nice email going to Joe and the gang, until the Moby remark. If you like him, or hate him, no need for that.

If you're not on the south side, you won't get the Bear... or Magic 98.1 either (hi Jackie).  This thread is the public outcry of people who actually miss a real-life, live & local personality.  I don't get 92.5 where I am, but I get it... the nice thing the Bear's listeners found was an island in the waves of change, i.e. a constant: 92.5 the Bear's Wanda had been there for eight years.

Joe Pedicino (hi Joe) tried fiercely to do that with three Clear Channel stations before they got conglom-o-rized, but then again... that's Clear Channel, regionalized, nationally managed radio rather than localized, locally managed radio.  Those of us who were his employees know it was a privilege to work FOR him even though it was tough sometimes to work WITH him.  He still has some of the crew who are the constant ports in the storm - the ones who, if you tune in at the same time every day and DON'T hear their voices (hi Rich), you know something is out of place.

It may not be the personality that brings you back; it's the constancy.  You rarely find that anymore... 92.5 the Bear has that on a smaller scale than Jordan Graye, Kelly McCoy, Bob & Marci & Scott Slade & Chris Camp, Mara Davis, Axel Lowe, and until recently, Rene Miller, Steve Craig and Leslie Fram.

I don't know Bear. Don't know Joe. Don't know Wanda. Don't know Taylorengineer. So, I will take the fall - Moby does bite.

Mama did always say....."if you can't say anything nice then don't say it at all."
Mama was right!
Sorry everybody.......
TAYYYYYLOR, I cant believe you, but then I agree with you too..LOL.. Never have heard the bear, BUT I would like to.

For those of you who want to give the Bear a listen and keep being told you can't, how about giving the internet a try. Our website is www.925fmthebear.com and most of the time the streaming is working.

It might be interesting to hear some thoughts and comments from you all.
