The Beat down continues in S.A.

The Beat continues to dominate the ratings in S.A with a whomping 9.1.
Closest station is KJ 97 with a 6.3.

What's up with 99.5 KISS? KISS drops from 5.6-Winter Book to 4.4-Spring Book. KZEP is also down.

Both Mix and Z are up.

I was shocked when I saw the KISS numbers. This is a VERY strong period for the Rock product. There is a LOT of good music out right now form heritage and good new artists. I don't think I've ever seen KISS this far from the top in 10 years

Hey, be careful. The moderators don't want nobody posting up rating numbers. I don't know why its like that but thats part of the rules.

why? they play the same songs over and over, along with z and mix...bleh

play the same songs over and over??? are you a rookie? all stations do that. they are called POWER ROTATIONS. holla if you need more schoolin' no offensive but that was a really lame assumption/comment.

Have you listened to KISS lately? They used to have a dry bland sound to them. Now their processing is all highs, barely any lows at all and zero subs. Really harsh and painful to listen to on any radio.

KISS is also now in HD-radio that may have something to do with it, along with Majic 105. I wonder when are these stations going to start multicasting? Look at how much better Mix is doing, they really made a great comeback, I doupt Z will be making any progress. Wish they would of kept Jamz's format this long maybe it could of made a good comeback.

HD doesn't effect the ratings.

As for Z, they've already made some progress.

Well I was refering to the sound quality...

Let's face it no matter what Z would have done it would have been better than the winter book. When your ratings suck that badly it's hard not to accidentally have an upswing.

Agreed. Although I think they have already sealed their fate. A slight rise in the numbers on 1 book really dont mean anything. I see Z going down in the next trend AGAIN.

KBBT-FM on top

From radio that pleases with hip-hop and rap to a racy host who lampoons everything on the map, two Univision-owned stations are hitting the audience gong in San Antonio.

According to Arbitron's spring ratings (April, May and June), KBBT-FM, known as "The Beat," beat other dial offerings by a substantial margin in several categories. KROM-FM, with its blend of Spanish favorites from the '70s, '80s and '90s, also scored big. Its topical and amusing morning show in particular, starring the infamous Raul Brindis, is a success, nabbing the top spot with listeners advertisers love — people ages 25 to 54. A Univision radio spokesman tells me that the hot topic of immigration — and Brindis' take on it — may have attracted even more interest.

Also drawing lots of ears here is country music. The most popular station is KAJA, particularly with listeners 25 to 54. Its comical "Two Guys in the Morning" show — starring Randy Carroll and Clayton Allen — also is a big favorite here.

It's not surprising to see WOAI No. 1 in the talk realm. After all, it is the local Spurs station, and the spring book encompassed the heated playoffs.

But it's KBBT-FM, which features everyone from Ashanti to Three 6 Mafia, that was the biggest winner. Part of the reason is there's little competition for lovers of the R&B and rap sound here.

"The Beat" grabbed the brass ring in what's known as "the beauty contest" (listeners 12 and older, Monday through Sunday, 6 a.m. to midnight) and also finished first among listeners between 18 and 34. Its morning show, "The Morning Mess" with Xavier Garcia, was a favorite, too.

They are doing great, but we still need something like 97.9 The box or majic 102.1 in Houston.

Nope. I'd rather see Clear Channel's Mega 101-Houston or their Jammin 105.9- Austin enter the S.A. market.

Possible frequencies:
106.7 -- Hurban
94.1 -- more like Jammin

Digital 104.1 could turn into urban like 97.9 if they ever get the signal problems fixed.

Digital is fine as is, it is the only pop in Spanish station in San Antonio.
It no longer has any competition in SA. ;D

Digital hasn't had competition for atleast a year and still unable to make any progress. Univision had the same problem with same format.

The format changed. Today's Spanish pop is reggaetón, and there is very little interest in the stuff Digital plays unless you are a teen in Mexico City.

Didnt the DJ's also keep saying that they are from Mexico?

Unfortunately, BMP is clueless to know that fact.
