The Beatles: Heard It On Real Oldies WRLL AM-1690

Pre-Cheers for The Beatles!!! Beatles Forever!!! I Love The Beatles!!!

On my way home from work yesterday around 5pm. I could of sworned that
I've heard the song "Yesterday" sung by The Beatles on WRLL AM-1690!

Did anyone else heard The Beatles?
or any other Beatles Tunes?
 
I was going to post about WRLL a few weeks ago, but never got a chance to do so. I have heard a lot post 1964 music on Real Oldies. I have noticed a steady increase of British Bands as well which Beatles are included... With JMK doing Jack I think CC is trying to pick up where JMK left off... IMO a smart move on CC's part. Judging by the latest trend Real Oldies seems to have gained a few of the JMK listeners... Right now Real Oldies sounds like what oldies radio sounded like back in the late 80's till around the mid to late 90's which when I can pick RLL up makes for good music listening... CC

I also heard some post 1964 music lately on the station. I turned it on for a friend who really missed 104 music. I have to admit, its getting better... every day I listen.

I agree the station is sounding more WJMKish lately. However, there's still a little too much obscure 50s doo wop in the mix. If they stick to the biggest hits of the 50s and early 60s and continue to add late 60s like they have been, then they will be really rockin.

Getting better? Not to my ears! I loved that station just the way it was. But I can understand that they want to try to attract some of WJMK's former listeners. So I'll tolerate a post-1963 playlist of about 20%. Anything more than that..........I'm outta there.

I agree. I hope it doesn't turn into another Beatle wannabe station. There is enough Beatle music on The Drive. If anything, let them play a few late 60's "obscure" Elvis tunes that would fit the format: "High Heeled Sneakers" or "Stranger in My Hometown".

How can they call themselves an "Oldies" station and not play The Beatles considering they were the most popular group of the 60s. The Beatles are a must play for any oldies station. I don't think adding more obscure music would help things. With no regular oldies station in Chicago, WRLL needs to stick to mainstream oldies like they have gradually been doing and drop the obscure stuff. Former WJMK listeners aren't going to want to hear obscure stuff all the time. Now if another FM goes to oldies, than WRLL can pretty much go back to their former hodgepodge oldies/standards format because a mainstream AM oldies station has no chance against an FM.

Actually, WRLL wasn't a true "oldies" station. It was a '50s/early'60s Top 40 station.

They played very little "obscure" music. Their playlist was made up of songs that made the Top 40 in the '50s/early '60s. People familiar with the music of that era are familiar with the music WRLL plays.

Most post-1963 music was recorded in stereo and played on WJMK in stereo. I'm not sure that former WJMK listeners will want to hear that music on AM, in mono.
