The Best FM Station in Indiana

This was a big surprise. Congratulations to Bruce and Mitzi Quinn!

Congrats Bruce and Mitzi for begging the most people to vote for you. I didn't think it was possible to beg more than Smiley.

These things are completely meaningless.

Not completely, but almost.

The one advantage of winning a "best of" beauty/popularity contest like this is that, perhaps, it can be used to snag another advertiser [or underwriter} or two. While agencies deal in hard-and-fast numbers, the mom-and-pops and the in-house owner/operator are much more likely to buy on emotion. These folks more are likely on the Quinns' dance card. This is the sort of thing that can be another brick in an emotional sale. It won't be the difference in turning a hard "no" into a "yes" but it might turn a "maybe" into one, lock in a renewal that was teetering, or boost a buy into a bigger one.

Remember, you have to do two things to win one of these:

1. Be popular enough to be in the race
2. Be motivating enough to mobilize that popularity.

Good for them.

Who said "any PR is good PR?"

No matter the methodology, for a Columbus Indiana radio station to be recognized as "the best of" by an Indianapolis Metro TV station is an incredible coup! What's the down side?

Take that door=to-door around town [frame it and hang it poster sized in the lobby, create a direct mail piece, put in in the station kit, its all good] - especially in towns close enough to the metro that the metro stations bleed into their market and have audience. The local stations always have a hard time in markets too close to Indy -
- and here's an Indy TV station saying you're vote the best?! You can't buy the credibility that will create around Columbus.
;D

Wrong! It shows they signed up the most people for the A-List. Have you ever worked
in marketing? I mean in a market larger than Martinsville. A pro wouldn't be so petty.

WKLU, Oldies 101.9 went off the air 1 year ago. Ever since, Indy radio sucks. Ever hear of the
protest vote. WHUM won this contest by virtue of the protest vote.

Don't confuse scientific accuracy and credibility; the two have nothing to do with one another.

It's been more than 60 years since the US Supreme Court upheld Nikola Tesla patent, but everyone still thinks that Marconi invented radio.

Perception = reality

And don't even mention Deforest. Please!

Congrats Bruce and Mitzi for WHUM being named #1 on WRTV Channel 6's A List.

I listen sometimes to hear Doris Day on the radio.
