The best of Breaking News

So I'm here enjoying Florida and staying out of the heat, and a rerun of People Puzzler from April is playing on the ABC station. How do I know it's from April? Because it was shown complete with an ABC Special Report that OJ Simpson had just passed away! So they get the shows from the syndicator and archive them as broadcast I'm guessing?

So they get the shows from the syndicator and archive them as broadcast I'm guessing?

Interesting story, but I would say no. The syndicator likely has time-sensitive commercials in the show. While the special report dates the show, my question is are the commercials current? Typically the way this happens is the new show failed to replace the old show in the automation. The only reason a station will archive a show is as a backup. That may be what happened here.

I'm not surprised to hear that WPLG would butch this. I have a friend of mine who's a producer for the station who says that WPLG is so awful and toxic BTS so I'm not surprised to hear that its trickled down to a control room or master control issue too.
