The Best Radio Station In CT To Work For?

I would have to say it's WTIC, hands-down. First of all, even though they fired Diane Smith from the morning show last year, guess who has been filling in for Ray Dunaway recently while he's on vacation... Diane Smith! Sure, given the circumstances, it might not be the best example, but it shows that they've welcomed back a former employe (albeit in limited form) with open arms.

Also, I think WTIC is one of the only stations that offers flex time to its employees. I mean, how else does Angela Dice (sp?) get away with doing the news updates all morning long and finish well into the middle of Rush's show from Monday through Thursday, yet finish after the 8 AM news on Friday?

If anyone can come up with a better example of a radio station with a better working environment in Connecticut than WTIC, post it here. (Everyone except Marc B, please reply.)

From what I've been able to see from the outside, I've liked the way it appears CBS Hartford runs itself, so I'd have to agree with you there.

The only thing that'd detract from that conclusion is that CBS has made their intentions clear of selling off all of their non top-10 clusters.

I'll say WNPR. They are the only station that hasn't cut most of its workforce and they even recently opened a big new headquarters in Hartford (with CPTV). If you're lucky enough to work there, you have job security.

hands down WCCC IMHO I think it helps what station you would want to work for when you like the music 95% of the time so thats why I would choose them. I would Beg for mercy to work for them. (remeber you can't please everyone so I can only assume many would disagree with me)

Hall Communications is a great company to work for and I think that you will find in all Hall clusters there is higher employee morale then most of radio. I have never worked at CBS in Hartford but do know several individuals that are very happy working there as well.

There are companies that still value people in this business... they are hard to find, but they do still exist - believe it or not.

Hey CTYankeeFan & Pam Landry

Pam is on weekends on 107.1/The Peak.

'PLR was the best station to work for, until they laid you off?

So, instead of the word "fired", you're just on hiatus or "laid off", with a chance of being hired back?

Gee, Megan Doll from the Chaz & AJ show has left the bldg. - would you join the show?

Evidentally, it seems like you liked them more than they liked the $ they were paying you.

You aren't just a number.

You're more than just a company makes you out to be.

Would you have taken a pay cut?

I think you are too proud for that, just like Paula Abdul left American Idol because they wouldn't pay her like the others.

The same thing happened to Sebastian & his morning crew on The Rock-WCCC/Hartford.

Probably just nitpicking here, but I believe it's Megan 'Dahl'.

Hall is most definitely in the conversation. These days, most folks as old as Jim Reed would not be on the air.

I'm laughing at the Pam Landry comment! When did she get let go? Wasn't that back in April? Jeez, it was 6 months ago... move on!

And from what I gather (other than Pam Landry) Cox Radio isn't a bad place to work at all. I think the stations are still live all day and have some weekend people on too. That trumps most other stations in the state.

oh and one other thing...not that I need to explain myself to you, SoNo, but my post was not meant as a negative post toward my former employer...interesting that you chose to interpret it that way.

If you read it CORRECTLY, what I was saying is that since I no longer work there, I no longer work for the best radio station in CT...get it?

Now "move on"....

Nothing for nothing...The only company growing in CT these days is Red Wolf Broadcasting. ... No lay-offs....just hard work. They really hit the streets. Hall has laid off Sarah Owens and others in Norwich. I miss her...Anyone know where she went?

I am a firefighter and a loyal CT listener. I have friends in radio and I heard that Red wolf is one of the worst companies to work for. Something crazy like 5 employees may have quit there in the last 2 months alone. They also hire to fire.-Colin
