the best south jersey station by far was the shore

When they first signed on 107.3, then exploded on 106.3, they were by far the best Modern/Alternative/Adult station at the South Jersey Shore. Why did they go under....<quote>"sooner or later everyone comes to the shore"<unquote>....

The Shore's format was moved to 97.3 WBSS who dropped the NJ-101.5 simulcast and became "Mix" WIXM.....However, WIXM was more of a Hot-AC like what "SoJo" 104.9 WSJO is today......I do agree 106.3 The Shore WKOE was a great station.

I thought it was really bland. Not much personality and the music mix was pretty typical for Modern AC at the time. My opinion on them is similar to my opinion on Max 95.7 in Philly- Every now and then I'd hear a song that really impressed me, but then they'd play 10 overplayed Goo Goo Dolls-type songs in a row. That's why Modern AC failed. There was no variety and not enough people who are passionate about midtempo guitar rock.

There's nothing that made the station stand out. What they eventually evolved to (Sojo) sounds much better to my ears.

I'm surprised to see a Rock fan lamenting the passing of The Shore, especially in a place that had JSE and DOX available. Those two stations blew The Shore out of the water.
