indyoldies.com (PERIOD)
the music, jingles, liners...Terriffic! all they need are a few people and a strong transmitter..
and they've got a 5-6 share-Top 3 or 4 rank.
and oh, Yes- the Audience will be made up of people with More Money to SPEND on advertisers products and services.
and will fill a niche & be a market Exclusive...
just sayin'

here is the horse....lets beat it again! Boring topic.
it must not be too boring, we're lucky to have you here... and the horse isn't dead, just asleep.... W A K E U P!

It would take a small operator like Russ Oasis or Bill Shirk to do it. Oasis has been there and done that though.

So, how many in Indy would listen to Oldies? Is it 50,000? Is it 100,000? So many people
who can't find what they want. I understand why this topic keeps coming up.

What about cicrle city radio and that dance net station in Martinville, lets give all 3 a tx and license.

while I had trouble getting the audio stream for Indyoldies.com, I was able to tune in Libby Farr's CCRR [Circle City Rock Radio] pretty easy and she also got some nice PR from Sean Ross on Radio. Here's a sample hour he posted - nice:
• Cat Stevens, “Father & Son”
• Marshall Tucker Band, “Can’t You See”
• Chicago, “Make Me Smile”
• Eric Clapton, “Motherless Children”
• Pat Travers Band, “Crash And Burn”
• Allman Brothers Band, “Southbound”
• Emerson, Lake & Palmer, “Peter Gunn”
• Joe Cocker, “High Time We Went”
• George Thorogood, “Who Do You Love”
• Bob Dylan, “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues”
• Stevie Ray Vaughan, “Couldn’t Stand The Weather”
• Blood Sweat & Tears, “Spinning Wheel”
• Rolling Stones, “Get Off Of My Cloud”

sure, its easy to understand why the topic keeps comming up, THE AUDIENCE WANTS THIS FORMAT BACK ON THE AIR IN INDIANAPOLIS!!!!! there is a Passion for it! just, HOW the Pinheads who run or own radio stations in this town can IGNORE this is beyond me. nobody can tell me that out of the 50+ signals comming into this town there isn't room for O N E just 1 station that plays "The Greatest Hits Of Rock & Roll". around our area, Cinncinnatti has one, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, NYC, LA, St. Louis...even Muncie!

True Oldies 91.7 in at least the Southern part of the Metro.

How does that station work again? 91.7 is in the non-commercial/educational band. Do they have commercials (sorry, i'm in Dallas)?

They also own a commercial AM station. The network spots are cleared on the AM station...the spots breaks are covered with non-com underwriting announcements...works pretty well & gets Oldies back on the radio at least in the Franklin/Columbus markets.

who owns the licence for this non-comm?

Now here's a product that's filling a real programming void in the market -

Indiana has a new online country channel. ALL HIT COUNTRY.com hit the net on 3/2/10 at Noon and is currently playing 14,000 songs in a row. Advertisers have already booked 6 month spot contracts in advance on the channel that has been in the planning stage since the first of the year.
