The best TV show of ALL-TIME is...............(drum roll please)

I would say it is the simpson's

Kind of a weird pick. Top 10 for sure, but you cannot ignore "Seinfeld", "The Simpsons" & "MASH".

First, define "best".

Is it best by popularity, critical acclaim, length of first or syndicated run, revenue, worldwide penetration etc.?

And then....what category? Sitcom? Drama? SciFi? News/Features? Variety? Quiz/Game? etc.?

Definitely subjective.

TV Guide voted "Seinfeld" best all time....but then again, their Top 10 game show hosts included Guy Smiley----a Muppet.

My definition of "best" would be a combination of factors, including the significance of a show, it's influence on other programs, critical acclaim, and overall popularity over the course of time.

By most of these criteria, "I Love Lucy" and "MASH" really have earned their rankings. Both programs have demonstrated massive popularity and staying power over the years. Both are critical and popular favorites. Both have been influential, especially "I Love Lucy", which essentially pioneered the style of filming a show with three cameras for later broadcast. Although I'm personally more partial to "MASH" than to "I Love Lucy", I also agree with the rankings that place "I Love Lucy" first -- it was a groundbreaking show in it's time, and the fact that it remains popular over 60 years after it first went on the air is truly impressive.

I Love Lucy....M*A*S*H......Seinfeld......all share the quality that they are
withstanding the test of time amazingly well.

I managed to ignore all three in their first runs, and continue to ignore the first two. As was stated earlier, it's all subjective.

Save for several isolated episodes of M*A*S*H (and the very disappointing finale) I also ignored it. Perhaps actually being in a war made it impossible for me to enjoy a comedy about one.

Four years of living in Noo Yawk made it impossible for me to enjoy a show about people I considered, to put it tactfully, idiots.

And years of enjoying artfully crafted cartoons from Warner Bros. made it impossible for me to enjoy the crude and ignorant presentation of "The Simpsons",

It's all subjective.
