The betting windows are open

Things seem quiet on the board recently so here's something that has little to do with radio, except the fact that the artist chosen has his/her/their music played on radio. Who do you think will be the next halftime act at the "big game in February"? (I don't think I can use the term "Super Bowl") ;) The NFL has chosen "safe" acts since the "wardrobe malfunction". I will chose a safe act that is still fairly popular and has not appeared yet. My choice is Bon Jovi. Of course it might make more sense for the group to appear at the upcoming game in New Jersey but I'm sticking to it for this year's game. Any other guesses?

The Who were HORRIBLE. Very disappointing.

Bon Jovi would be a great choice.

I think finding any act to play in the "outdoor New Jersey" Super Bowl is going to be a challenge.

Nobody in their right mind is going to risk damaging their vocal cords.

It will be a very "B" act....

Odd enough, Kid Rock opened for Bon Jovi at the Rogers Centre (Sky Dome) in Toronto the other day.
Some say Bon Jovi was great while others insist Kid Rock was much Better!

I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

Somebody told me he heard it was gonna be Crazy Elephant and Janis Ian (now THAT'S the way to crank up the Big Game Crowd.)

If we keep this up, this thread will turn into another "stiffs/hits that never get heard on the radio any more" discussion....

They'll need to heat things up. I'm going with The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and "Fire"

After the debacle with The Who, the Superbowl Halftime Entertainment Committee understands the need to bring in entertainers that will reach a younger demographic. Word is the Committee has a short list of top notch, "fresh" performers to reach viewers 25-49. Said to be on the list, Timbuk3, Katrina and the Waves, Culture Club, Gary Newman, Silver Convention and Flock of Seagulls.

This year's Super Bowl is in Dallas so there's always the country music angle to consider. I've already placed my wager...

As every good Dallas resident will tell you, the Cowboys' new stadium is most assuredly NOT in Dallas. It is in Arlington, and they're all not in the slightest bit bitter about that, thank you very much!

My inlaws live in Lewisville, a suburb north of the DFW airport, and my father inlaw is a huge Cowboys fan and has ranted more than once about how Arlington gets all the tax benefits while Dallas got stuck with the construction bill or something like that. Apparently it was quite the boondoggle down there, even by Texas standards.

Given the market and its music tastes, given the charts these days, and given the NFL's desire to spread its fan base beyond an overwhelmingly male set of demos to catch more 25-54 women, I'm betting on a double bill of Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift for the 2011 Super Bowl halftime show.

I'm not sure you want to get between those two during the discussion of who's the headliner, and who's the supporting act.
