The "Big Four" and R-rated commercials

Forgive me if this has been addressed before, but I seem to recall the networks having a rule (self-imposed) about not running spots for R-rated movies before 9 (or maybe it was 10) PM. But in the first hour of the World Series tonite (8:45 Eastern, 5:45 Pacific), we saw a commercial for the R-rated Man With the Iron Fists. Did the rule go away or did I misremember?

I believe that these days it's perfectly OK to runs ads for R rated movies at any time of day, as long as the commercial itself does not have R rated content.

In theaters the ads will say that they are acceptable for all audiences unless it's an R rated ad shown in an R rated movie, so I'd guess that is the same on most network TV shows. Of course I still wouldn't want to see an ad for an R rated movie of any kind during the time for kid's shows.

Actually, there are restrictions in place preventing commercials for R-rated movies from running during children's programs. Although, I do recall seeing an occasional ad for some low-end PG-13 rated films on Nickelodeon in the past.
