THE BIG GAY 5 IN NEW ORLEANS

I am wondering if any of the CHRs in the Central Gulf Coast are carrying the Big Gay 5 countdown show. If not, it would be worth it just to see the Christians and David Duke supporters go crazy. It would be a hell of a lot of free press for B97 or any other CHR looking to draw ratings.

When I lived in New Orleans, there were a lot of homosexuals. I imagine they've stuck around.

The question is, will the archbishop get involved?

This is not a joke. I truly am curious about the BIG GAY 5.

As a side note, I recently discovered at the age of 27 that my father is gay. Do you know how destructive it is when society shuns homosexuality so hard that it makes a man marry a woman, have four kids, and then not know how to raise his children properly. I have a drug addiction because of depression and anxiety issues stemming from the root cause of my father being gay. It is time for the fundamentalists to wake up and realize that condemning people to hell for a genetic defect (we all have our own) is detrimental to their own salvation. But that's just a side note.

It's not a defect...it is what it is.

btw...own your addiction, it's your problem now, not your father's.

MrMan... AMEN, dude, AMEN! I was "thinking" it, myself, but wasn't sure to say anything or not.

I agree, though, that the bible-thumpers need to realize their Christian "love" is sending so many people to early graves.

I was trying to elicit comments about the syndicated radio show and the scenarios that could put it in the New Orleans market. I specifically put the other comments in italics in order to note its subordinate position in the post. Why did Jim Singleton get a pass all those years at City Council meetings yet I can't?

[EDIT]

Regards.

[EDIT-objectionable content...allusion to drug use]

I want comments on the radio show, not my own personal problems. I deal with those with either a bottle, a pipe, or a straw.

Regards.

[EDIT]as for the show i wouldnt listen. this is the south it want work here. maybe in san fran or LA but not new orleans. [EDIT]

"Radio With a Twist" is carried here in Houston on Mix 96.5. I doesn't take the angle that I would expect. Considering that it airs at 10pm on Saturday nights, I would expect it to be a rythmic show featuring top dance tracks. Instead, it involves alot of talk about useless and uninteresting topics, dedications, and sappy music. Not something I would imagine anyone listening to in post 10 PM time slot on a Saturday night.

Nonsense. If you didn't want comments on your personal problems, you wouldn't have posted anything about them in the first place.

Here's my take on the shows ability to air in the area:

In most of the area, the population is more conservative christian and I personally wouldn't expect it outside New Orleans considering the suicide a station could possibly have in "trying to convert our kids" as some listeners and parents of listners would say ..

New Orleans is more liberal and "out of touch" with the rest of Louisiana, as it's said outside the market. But I don't know if there are enough interested listners in the program anywheres in the area except maybe NOLA (and those numbers are unknown at this time) but before Katrina I think it would have been a throw of the dice.

Actually WEZB went thru some flack and a ratings drop that took a few years to get out of with their hot talk format that was risky at times in the 1990s and I don't think Entercon would be willing to rock the boat again.

Mix 96.5 doesn't even show it on their website in Houston... The only link I ever found to see what it was about was on a radio station in NYC.....

If it would air, I'd expect it more on the Diva stations as the format and subjects covered I feel would fit more there than anywheres (besides the stations could use the hype and etc....) but if Citadel would take a chance, would be a different question (as most of their stations in the NOLA market are currently lagging)

nola already has a station targeted at homosexuals. It's called diva 92.3

Homosexuals are at LEAST 10% of the population of Jefferson & St. Tammany parishes. That is a HUGE chunk of listeners to just abdicate to one station.

what makes you think they will only listen to one kind of station? Or that the rest of the market want to hear a station formatted to a lifestyle choice than real likes and dislikes.... I mean just because they are sleeping with the same sex doesn't mean that once they come out, they have to give up the kids and baseball mom lifestyle with the country music and such and have to switch to dance/trance music..come on

Also where are you coming up with your facts anyway on the amount of gays in the area? I'm just asking as I haven't seen any kind of polls or anything in the local media that I am aware of
