Strange. WLW seemed like the type of station that was committed to 100% homegrown shows, regardless of local or not.

Then again, so did WTKS-FM in Orlando. Then one day, a tape-delayed morning show (Lex and Terry) took the spot of their live and local evening show. The other shows don't even acknowledge it exists on the station.

I know what's next
Terry McClain landing his show every Monday through Friday morning at 5:30 on the big one! Haha!

Yeah but 'TVN is one thing, but dropping this thing in on WLW late Saturday mornings is ridiculous. Is the whole 9am-12noon slot going to end up being infomercials soon? What happens to the Saturday Paul Harvey?

It may not be Terry McClean, but yeah...with a move like that I could see a few hours of fire and brimstone preaching on the Big One. New home for Brother Stair? Old tapes of Garner Ted Armstrong?

These days it seems 1230 WDBZ does a better job at discussing important Cincinnati issues than WLW. Jim Scott's show is just random interviews, McConnel isn't even local anymore, Cunningham does an okay job, Burbank is a comedy show, then there's sports, and Scott Sloan is just a goofball who doesn't really say anything worthwhile. Meanwhile, da Buzz has people addressing real issues and problems in this town. I guess it's because WLW's target audience is upper-middle class white males who have less pressing issues to deal with than WDBZ's audience of African-Americans, many of which have real problems in their neighborhoods.

The standard answer being "it's all whitey's fault"

Yup. Anytime you can blame it on whitey instead of yourself, why not? Racism only sticks on whites, not blacks. Check out 'Reverend' Al's latest assault on Mitt Romney.

All that aside, what a waste of a legacy AM signal like WLW.

I listened to the Buzz for a while there. Lincoln Ware is the only talk show on during the day while I'm at work. I like HIM, and the station sounds fine, but......it's the same callers saying the same thing every day. Plus I've heard him get duped by prank callers twice just in the brief time I've listened. First was the Sinbad "death" but I forgave him that one; everyone fell for that one.

Then someone called him and said that the neo-Nazi nimrods had shown up and were marching through Over-the-Rhine.

He needs a REAL producer/call screener and Lincoln needs to shut his callers up to keep them off their tangents. Nobody listens to talk radio for the callers.

Infomercials on WLW is indeed sad. I just thank God it's on the weekends.

You said; Infomercials on WLW is indeed sad.

No it's not. It's 2007 economics. It's maximizing what you have. I bet they get quite a return for those. They can do it better than anyone. It's a lazy way, an easy way to get a big buck.

If YOU were the sales manager there, you'd do it, too.

Right. It's the account rep's job to sell a remote and trade package at his mother's funeral. It's the job of the program director to keep these things in check and prevent the whoring out of the station. The sales department is not to blame.

Whoa whoa whoa Hemmando!

I didn't say it was bad business. Hell, I moved here from Orlando where TWO pretty powerful AM news/talk stations air almost all brokered programming on the weekends. I understand it's a quick, easy way to generate revenue and these paid-for "talk" shows are at least a little better than 30-minute commercials for ways to soften your sphincter sausages.

All I'm saying is that to see WLW have to go that route is sad. Necessary perhaps, even good business, but still a sad necessity.

You're right by the way...if the money was right, I probably would have done it too.

Burbank is a comedy show

Uhhh...No it's not. Hasn't been an actual laugh since 1996...Over 10 years without a single funny comment. With a track record like that....give him a wing in the Radio H of F!!!
