The big question is, how did radio respond?

I grew up in the Renaissance neighborhood just south of the university of Tulsa, and our house, like several in the neighborhood had a basement. I'm not sure how helpful it would have been in a F5 tornado.

The best solution may be an engineered reinforced safe room, that is integrally designed with the foundation of the house.
