The Blitz

Maybe they were so embarrassed they put their call letters on the "Rock on the Range" show that's not theirs, they decided to change. :p

Everyone knows that's a WNCI show all the way.

3 Doors Down, Stone Temple Pilots, Finger Eleven, Flyleaf etc...

It would be surprising if they were to stay with a Rock (maybe tweaked) format. Staying with the same jocks, add to that their poor first quarter ad sales and current ratings, would it really help to put a band-aid on a gaping wound.

Finally, I like, or rather hate, the comment made by Hal Fish; "Hopefully . . . (the new format) will (make) our advertisers happy." One of the many things wrong with radio today. Get the ratings first, the ad revenue will follow.

If you build it, he will come.

Think about this; when was the last time we saw any mention of The Blitz on these boards? Sure, it's been brought up in passing, but for the most part, nobody has noticed them in a while.

they drop "the blitz" moniker as it might be outdated, and go for a more mainstream approach. New music sucks right now, and a look at the top 200 shows VERY few rock titles at all moving.

;)

I only act stupid.

They took WOBN-FM's name back in 1992 when they went to "Solid Rock 99.7 The Blitz" (WOBN was known as "Solid rock 101"), and 16 years later they do it again because WOBN has been "101-5 The Rock". Gee how original!

This one was almost SOOOO friggin' obvious I thought they might actually decide to surprise everybody (while doing something to serve the market instead Hal's undying allegiance to rock). Of course, no such luck. Whoop-ti-do. So few big signals, such a pathetic market. I guess Columbus is great for testing hamburgers but can't have the same mix of formats as everywhere else.

Like I said earlier...new coat of paint on the same old house. This business, especially in this town, needs an adjustment. So much potential...so little grey matter. Sorry, I was using logic again. Got to remember what market I'm in. The Who were right when they sang "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss". What a waste. Just another reason NOT to listen to radio in this city. You go NABCO! Terrestrial radio...you gotta love it.

Terrestrial radio...18.5 Billion in profits last year.

As opposed to Satellite....hundred million dollar losses...ten years running.

Nice try though.

I'll drink to that!

Didn't they learn their lesson with Ted fm?

We'll have to find out who got hit by the swinging axe. What a rough business to be in.
