I can tell ya...it's because there's no other place on the web for candid commentary about the local radio scene, and it's good for the occasional rumor that just might turn out to be true. I'm sorry that everyone doesn't play on a level field. I know the reasons for nicknames and I certainly understand why, better than most people! I've been irritated and angered many, many times by rogue comments thrown my way by anonymous post'ers, but that's just part of it. I've stayed clear of many topics because I know my 2 cents will start a war. I just read it and enjoy it all for what it is, and truthful or not, it's highly entertaining and always informative...but we all should know by now to take much of it with a grain of salt until proven otherwise.

I also think there's plenty of radio people afraid NOT to check the board every so often. I'd rather know about a format change or a layoff BEFORE my employer breaks it to me!

I'm sure you're aware of the TV Spy Watercooler site, and we look like angels compared to the venom that gets thrown around there. Just like with radio, I guess all one can do is change the channel if one doesn't care for what's said. I'm sorry that you and others, especially those in the limelight, get taken to task sometimes. I guess that scrutiny is part of the cost of fame. But not all of us do that, and there's many of us who **TRY** to stay above the fray and would be much happier if the flaming all stopped. But, at the expense of quelling free speech, I still have to respect those people's right to say what they want...even if I don't agree, and even if they use an alias.

I've been addicted to this board since a poster correctly predicted the station I was working for at the time was changing formats. I enjoy the debates and the exchange of information, and have become quite fond of some of the people I've argued with. I respect the posters who give their names, like Mike and Jody and even David Gleason.
I have been irked by some of the people who signed on with new log-ins just to burn people.
'Old Dog' and 'mitch carter' in particular, for the vicious things they posted about me and people I know. But it didn't take long to figure out who the antagonists were.
Likewise, anyone interested in who I am has enough clues to figure it out.
I appreciate those who respectfully differ with my opinions, and as to the ones who just flame, eh. Who needs them. They have to live with themselves.

Narcissism?

Jody,

I can't stand oldies so i don't listen to you or Kluv very often. What I’ve heard you're a good talent. I've heard much better and much worse. I DID read your D Magazine article and you sure sounded like a "Victim" to me. Oh you say you can't stand people who play "Victim" but by God YOU do. Are we supposed to feel sorry for you because you've been married 3 times or you have beat up on co-workers? Ok so you apologized, then do it all over again. How many times do we have to swallow, "You're a work in progress"? Hey my friend, here's something to think about; WE ALL HAVE OUR PROBLEMS. YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT. NOT EVEN THE GREAT JODY DEAN! So stop lumping all of us "Spineless Ones" into one category!
Stop being a tough man because like many in the business your "Contacts" may not be able to save you when your ratings and behavior start to wear thin.
Enjoy your 15min of fame ;)

Mike and Grant summed it up pretty well, and There is no fault in their statements. I was in similar circumstances like Grant, and I mentioned there was one imbalanced indiividual who had and maintains an obsession with me. No, I am not referring to D.E. Criticism comes with the territory, the pro and the con. The attempt to out someone or create personal grief for them ,DOES NOT. Frankly I don't agree with Jody's recent posts in their entireity, but I do commend his open and frank article in D Magazine and felt it was honest, and not meant as a ploy for sympathy. We are here to express,to vent, to offer advice, to offer news tips, and state an opinion,no matter what name we use. Some of us even make an attempt at humor to break up the monotony and the tension.
Thankfully this forum allows each of us to use it and serve us in its own constructive way. Welcome to America.

KPLEX, Wow! D.E. and others? How many people are obsessed with you? You must be someone special. LOL Just ribbing you ;D

In life, we all have to take responsibility for our own actions, ive seen too many slimeballs in the business, hence why I left. I enjoy the candor and honestly we see on this board. I like to know whats going on over the horizon.

And to the Right Reverend Jody Dean: Get over yourself man...your're no Ron Chapman :)

Thanks for the initial post Mike. I agree with your perpective.

The juvenile behavior on this board doesn't bother me even though I'm rapidly approaching "old coot" status. The venomnous anger here does bother me. I learned some years back that anger comes from fear or pain or a combination of both.

Radio used to be a faboulous creative outlet for so many of us but since consolidation it has become a very tough business. Several national syndicated personalities and a handful of local personalities in each market get to play on the radio and make good money doing it. A lot of local folk scrape by as board-ops, traffic reporters and part-timers.

There's not much room for those of us who used to be in the middle anymore. Most of us have found new sandboxes to play in. Some of the sandboxes might even have have more toys but they ain't radio.

Back to Jody and his omnipotent presence, the problem is people fear what they don't understand. Some big wig jocks are so above hearing from the common man (even though the common man used to program his friggin show and has a FIRM GRASP of what we are talking about), that they shun our comment and call it venom, instead of giving them credence and taking a long look in the mirror.

For instance, if that weren't the case, how come CONsultants always talk about us behind our postings but used our witticisms during their board meetings?! Jody... and the rest of you meglomanical jocks out there... we are on this board because we actually have a passion about what radio used to be in this TOP FIVE MEDIA MARKET.

But alas, I digress... sigh. :)

Veritas,

I'm totally in agreement with you but it's time to give this a rest. Jody and others got their wish and got some attention on here. They'll be back to remind everyone were are just a bunch of un-employed, bitter, no talent misfits and THEY ARE THE GOOD GUYS WITH ALL THE TALENT. ::)

So many of his listeners are kissing his feet every morning telling him how great he is when in reality if he lost his job tomorrow those people would forget him in one month. I don't think Jody and many others realize that. It also makes them feel superior to others.

As i've said before where i work i hear everyone say i never read that crap just a bunch of bla bla bla... but a day doesn't go by where i see computers logged into RADIO-INFO :D
