The Bone to become Q933?

Why would it be a model at for KDBN since the Atlanta market doesn't mirror D/FW?

(1) WWWQ has no real direct competitor. WSTR-FM "Star 94" there is often listed as a CHR as it positions itself as one on air, but it musically is basically a hot AC. There is no rap or urban music and almost all the music overlaps with what KDMX would play here (lots of Nickelback, Pink, The Fray, Kelly Clarkson, etc.); a "safe" morning show, etc.

(2) WWWQ has only recently become competitive...after it was moved from a C2 facility on 100.5FM to the 100 kw 99.7 facility. On the C2 stick (the tower of which was in Atlanta, not a rimshot suburban facility...sort of like the 93.3 C2 facility in this market), WWWQ was not much of a player.

(3) The demographics of the market are different (8% Hispanics there vs 24% here; 30% black there vs. 14% here). The market is different...KDBN adopting WWWQ's playlist as a "model" would put it as a C2 facility against a C facility (KHKS) that is, unlike WSTR, playing a similar playlist.

While txchipk is 100 percent right it doesnt matter when it comes to Cumulus CHR. Case in point? 104 KRBE Houston.
If anything, Q-100 Atlanta should model itself after 106.1 Kiss FM Dallas ;)

What point are you trying to case? That just because KRBE is a Cumulus CHR it isn't successful? Did you consider the Houston demographics?

Why would Q100 model itself after KHKS, when Q100 is already winning?

There is absolutely room for another CHR presentation in this PPM rated market, regardless of the owner.

Winning? It's not winning when a Rhythmic CHR, 95.5 The Beat, that doest have a good signal in downtown Atlanta is outcuming it, and posts better ratings. If Clear Channel or CBS Radio were to launch a CHR/Pop station of their own in Atlanta it could bring Q-100 down, and have a major impact on 95.5 The Beat as well.
The main reason Q-100 does so well is b/c of the Bert Show. If I'm not mistaken Bert used to be part of the Kidd Kraddick show, which is based out of 106.1 Kiss FM Dallas.
