The Bone - What is it?

jeffdfw said:
Are they classic rock or not? They just played Kid Rock - All Summer Long...

Kid's song contains riffs from "Sweet Home Alabama" and mentions the song title.......ta-da........it's a classic ;D ::) ;D ::) ;D ::)

Oooh ooh radio Jeopardy.

Answer - The Bone
Question - What is an underachieving, flagging classic rock station?

I was going to say a placeholder format overdue for a flip

The bulk of that song is made up of a Warren Zevon sample and then some guitar and piano solos from Sweet Home Alabama and to make it more confusing he hires a choir to interpolate ideas from Skynryd's chorus. I find it very disturbing that the bone would play this, not because of the "is it classical" controversy, but because NO station should play that junk.

I don't know what they are, but they are never going to beat KZPS at classic rock. They need to fill another rock niche. Preferably from the 80's thru current, but not the hard rock that KEGL and KDBN feature. Stuff like Coldplay, U2, Interpol, Death Cab, Radiohead, R.E.M., Green Day, Springsteen...etc.

Funny...I always thought the song was Country. I've never heard it on the radio but they seem to play it a lot at the Rangers ballpark.

First time I heard that song was the music video on CMT. I might add, Kid Rock actually looks HOT with his ballcap on backwards instead of that stupid ass, Samantha Ronson/Dion Sanders fedora/gangster hat. Then again, I think ALOT of people look good in a backwards ballcap. My daughter downloaded the song on her iPod and I too thought he sampled "Werewolves of London" from Warren Zevon. Is is suppose to be Skynard? I'm not hearing Skynard (in the music) at all.

I am trying to look it up on the oh, so reliable, wiki. I forgot what it said All I know is; someone stole it from someone; and that someone stole it from someone else; who stole it from someone else. WARREN ZEVON FOR PRESIDENT!! WHOOP WHOOP!

The Bone is small town radio in a major maket. They're trying to appeal to everyone, but it doesn't work when there are other rock stations in the market. Pick a genre and stick with it. It sounds like SO many small market stations that are the ONLY rock station in town, therefore they're all over the place when it comes to music. Kid Rock, to Pink Floyd? ZZ Top followed by the Toadies? It just doesn't work here! Plus a PD who is the afternoon guy? What are we, in Midland/Odessa? What's next, voice tracking? That station needs to pick a genre of rock, and get some personalities on the mic. It's really not that difficult, is it? They've got a great brand name and they need to run with it! They should be saying "Bone this" and "Bone that". Not to mention they're the FM flagship for the Cowboys. It sounds like the Cumulus suits who program stations in places like Temple or Tyler are obviously using the exact same template.... and their spiraling numbers prove it.
By the way, they should keep Tasha Stevens though. Her personality seems to shine through even though she's obviously forced into reading liner cards all night. (Just my opinion)

But they would say......

"Our Bone Listeners Like Junk...."

And....our Advertisers....are really cool with the calibur of listeners that that kind of music attracts....

So.... "we're all really very happy over here".... ! !
