The Boston Dance Music Coalition Site Is Up!

http://www.myspace.com/bostondanceradio

This site is affiliated with what I am doing in New York but is being operated on a local level.

As is with the New York version, the Boston Dance Music Coalition wants to push the viability of dance music to the masses, with the goal of getting a terrestrial radio station to do a current leaning dance music format (unlike "Funkytown" currently on 93.7-HD2). For those of you in the region that feels the same way, that dance music should be heard on the standard FM dial in Boston, and want to help with the cause in Boston, click the site above and join up.

As such with our organization, the Boston Dance Music Coalition takes no money whatsoever for its mission. It's about dance music fans uniting together! The site is still a "work in progress" but will be the central point for the fight in Boston.

Thank you,

Thank you Tony! Finally a site for the DANCE music fans in the area. Would be great to have a dance station back in Boston. If these money hungry corporate giants ignore this, which they probably will, than maybe an independent dance station can be created. I am sure you have the people in this forum talk about the demographics and the target audience not being there. The next thing we may hear is that there also are not enough women or gays and lesbians in the demographic, because many assume that they would be the ones to listen to dance music, when I can say that is just stupid. Yes I know that the Pride Radio or gay/lesbian targeted stations play dance, but that does not mean that only they listen to it. I am a guy, I'm not gay and I love dance music. I also listen to some oldies, classic rock, and pop rock, but mainly dance music, especially 70's and 80's dance, disco, and R&B music. If we have a dance station, make everyone the target audience and just limit the target to a certain age group.

Actually, the credit for the Boston site goes to Doug Ruffin, though he is working closely with me in terms of what I did in NYC and what has to be done in the Greater Boston area for a dance station to get back on the FM dial.

Just like NYC, I've definitely been told EVERY SINGLE thing you can think of regarding why such a station like this won't work (if I had a dime for everytime I heard the word "niche" (as a bad thing), I'd be a BILLIONAIRE! lol. I'm straight, a guy and LOVE this stuff. And really when you get down to it, who cares what sexuality, race, sex, creed one is! :) There is an audience for this and we're aiming to get at it! Collectively, one can do a lot more versus going at it by yourself!

Spread the word! :)
