The Boston Globe's Two Front Attack on "Jimmy Severino" aka "Jay Severin III

In a two front attack The Boston Globe made "Jay Severin" the main focus.

Scott Lehigh's article [find link yourself....;-)] basically calls Severin a fraud. Severin, he said claims he has received a Pulitizer Prize for on-line journalism. According to Lehigh's investigation, no such Pulitzer award exists.
When confronted with the transcript of Severin's on-air claim of receiving the award Severin punted.

Scott Lehigh also notes that Severin claims to be a graduate of Harvard Law School. He isn't.

Finally, Lehigh notes that when at Vassar, a college from which this talk host did matriculate, he was known as JIMMY SEVERINO, not as "JAY SEVERIN III".

Well, Severin, Severino's questionable resume aside, the next Boston Globe article states that he has just signed a deal with Infinity to syndicate.
That may or may not include WTKK. At the moment it does not. Severin/Severino's contract with 96.9 expires at the end of the year. Peter Smyth, the CEO of Greater Media, the parent company of WTKK believes they will be able to work out an arrangement with Infinity to carry Severin/Severino's new show.

But who knows. This may all be a figment of Severin/Severino's vivid imagination.

Finally, you have to read Scott Lehigh's opening paragraph on Severin and the hall of mirrors at Versailles. It is one of the greatest put-downs of all time only equalled by Dick Cavett's line to Norman Mailer when he asked Mailer if he would like "another chair for his ego.."

And yes, Severin/ Severino does admit that he does his show from his home in Sag Harbor, New York from his 200 year old barn.

Well, telling the truth about one thing is a start for Jimmy Severino.
Wonder what his wife and kids think about the article?

Details on the fraud's new deal
>

GREATER MEDIA Talk WTKK/BOSTON afternoon host JAY SEVERIN joins INFINITY BROADCASTING as the host of a weekday talk show for selected INFINITY stations. The daypart and stations have yet to be announced, but the show, "JAY SEVERIN HAS ISSUES," will debut in JANUARY. SEVERIN's deal with WTKK expires at the end of the year, and he hasn't determined whether he'll return to WTKK while doing the new show; he does his BOSTON show from his LONG ISLAND home, where he will do the national show as well.

Gee, will Jay pretend to be living in each of the markets in which his syndicated show will air? Perhaps he'll identify himself as Jay Severin from Anytown, USA?

Re: Jay Severin

Does anyone know what time of day or night will Jay Severin's national show be broadcast in??

If it's broadcast after 7 at night, the show may well end up on WBZ-1030, as it and Severin's new show are both owned by Infinity.

But if it's a daytime show, it may well stay at WTKK-96.9, as WBZ is all-news during daytime hours (and quite successful doing it, too). I doubt 'BZ would want to break their all-news format during daytime hours to pick-up any talk show. And I can't see any of Infinity's local FM stations breaking a music format to carry it.

If Severin's new national show does get picked-up at WTKK, and it's not in afternoon drive, I fully expect them to adjust their program schedule to be able to pick-up Severin live, as his is the station's most popular show.

If Severin's new national show isn't heard locally on WTKK, or if it's not in afternoon drive, it's my guess the station will start carrying Sean Hannity live (and probably pick-up another syndicated host to fill Hannity's old tape-delayed late-night slot).

My guess: If Severin's new national show is during the daytime hours, it will go to WTKK. If it's at night or overnight, it'll be heard on 'BZ.

Re: Jay Severin

I can't imagine Severino would fit WBZ's "Vanilla" image. Can you imagine Jay aka Jimmy calling Hillary Clinton a "Fat Cow" or worse on "BZ. I can't and he is unlikely to change his act.

Re: Jay Severin

Severin is not a fit for WBZ. Brudnoy would be spinning - BZ needs to find someone who can make people think while delivering clear and precise information.

Liars like Jay Severin or the Globe's Jeff Jacoby or fiction writers like Mike Barnicle need not apply.

Wonder if the syndicator will ask WRKO to run it. you know, the station
Severin (a former employee) has called "Fart Radio".<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Jay Severin

I also can't hear Severin being on WBZ... Paul Sullivan sometimes gets a bit pugnacious/provocative but nothing like Severin.
