The Boston Pops 4'th Concert- another charade

Looks like the upcoming Boston Pops 4th of July Concert on the Esplande to be broadcast by Ch. 4 will be just another charade.

It has become a commercial filled and pseudo Pops Concert. This year it will be a hillbilly country and western singer whose name I have never heard of who will headline the pops.

If Ch. 4 follows form to last year they will cut off a musical piece anywhere to drop in a commercial which kills any flow the concert may have had.

As to the 1812 Overture, it has become a joke. No more bells from the Advent Church on Brimmer Street on Beacon Hill to ring in the bell section of the Overture and the cannons will fire only if they don't interupt a commercial.
So, the 1812 Overture has become more like the "Minute Waltz Overture."

Keith Lockhard has sold out any credibility he might have had. Seems like he is just going through the motions. Maybe he has a late date and just wants to have his limo pick him up and get him out of the Esplande.

If anyone remembers even John Williams leading the Pops, let alone Arthur Feidler they too must admit that this TV presentation has become a complete sham and a sell out to commercialism.

The Pops Concert use to have some class. Under Lockhard's baton it has lost all of that.

Wow, this is really tragic.

Yes, I am a radio sales weasel but there would
be no programming if it wasn't for loooong commercial breaks. Remmeber that!</P>

Guess "Tradition" isn't PC.
The Boston Pops, just another sell out to the lowest common denominator.

The fireworks will be shown commercial free, sponsored by Liberty Mutual. That probably means they'll get their logo on the screen.

WOW !!!! Can't wait to see L-I-B-E-R-T-Y M-U-T-U-A-L in flames....
To paraphrase something Yogi Berra might say, ' Arthur Fiedler would probably roll over in his grave if he were alive today to see what the Philistines have done to The Boston Pops.'

It's their party. They paid $10mill for it. They pick
the music and the fireworks. Sorry, but you are not invited.
Buh-buh-bye.
