The Breeze Blows Out of Town

And in LA, the station that carries him is rumored to be about to change format, having hired the former KLVE morning team Omar & Argelia... and they are as AC as you can possibly imagine: typical topic "why do wives put pretty towels in the bathroom that nobody is allowed to use?"
Now that I have not heard of! Who knew Cali 93.9 would win the reggaetón battle in LA even with its abysmal initial ratings? And taking cues from KXOL's own music research no less!

Gonna have to do something about the morning show, but the host is the owner's wife, so can't do much about that.

id expect rumba to make adjustments once a program director is hired I heard them play 3 reggaeton songs in a row it’s not gonna stay that way they need variety if they want this to work

I've heard at least one bachata song on Rumba 106.1. Like the slogan says, "Number One for Reggaeton and Variety in Philadelphia."

There is a petition flowing around Twitter requesting to bring back The Breeze, yeah not happening.

Some just don't understand that this is a business.
IHeart could throw them a bone and slap the national Breeze feed on a HD2, but not WISX HD2 or the smooth jazz fan will start a petition.

The new pm will probably throw in some songs from the Salsa genre as well. Puerto Rican artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle, El Gran Combo of Puerto Rico. So far I've heard heavy Reggaeton and Bachata hits from Rumba.

Some classic 90s hits such as Proyecto Uno, Sandy & Papo, El General would be nice for the dominican demographic. They are really well received from the community.

True and today some can just go to the iHeartRadio app and get the San Francisco edition of the Breeze or the Sacramento editions of the Breeze but for how long. I know in the San Francisco and Sacramento editions of the Breeze they have added more of 2010's and 2020's songs to the playlist.

We know not too far from now as the demographic ages. KISQ becomes a typical AC KOIT 2.0 station. Would mean two AC stations going after two Bonneville stations on both markets.

That sounds more like what a old timey station in Miami, New York, or San Juan (without the merengue you mentioned) would play. Not a contemporary station going after young people. Once in a while, a Mark Anthony will have a salsa song with mass appeal, but that's about it. Most of the time it's reggaetón or pop artists like Luis Fonsi and Enrique Iglesias... who for the most part are borrowing from the hip-hop aesthetic anyway these days.

The host is a marvelous comedian, and I saw her a number of times in Mexico City, once doing a team show with her father, the wonderful Raúl Vale. But she is not of the generation or lifestyle of the reggaetón format.

Hispanics will listen to anything from AC to country to Active rock. Rumba could very well flop we have to see
And gringos will listen to anything from bluegrass to rock to classical. That does not mean that different groups don't have specific likes and dislikes. Same goes for Hispanics, over half of whom in Philly listen to English language stations with English language music... predominantly Urban, AC, CHR.
