The Breeze comes to Allentown

On an HD sub-channel, that is. WZZO 95.1 HD-2 is now apparently "The Breeze," apparently a move by iHeart to secure the brand in another market sort of like putting it on WLTW HD-3 in New York City, recently.

Maybe if this format becomes a real hit around the country, we could see a "Breeze" type format on one of the six main FM Lehigh Valley signals. I always said WLEV should have never tried to go hotter AC or mainstream AC and stuck with a softer AC. There's still oldsters in the Lehigh Valley who refer to WLEV as "WFMZ" from the easy listening days in the 1990s.

Or maybe "Spin 107.1" would be another option, the rimshot alternative station from Belvidere, NJ that puts a semi-decent signal through the Lehigh Valley. Could be some good competition for mainstream WLEV.

Of course, neither of those stations could use "The Breeze" branding now that it's on WZZO HD-2. Probably the motive behind this move.
