Since 1996, there's always been a format change coming on 94.7.

The Buzz never made it that low on 12+ Lex and Terry have there own audience and it is not any Brew listener from what I can tell. We have 3 classic rock stations in this market well 4 if you count Katt playing rush in between a Godsmack and a Hinder song. You have Jrod in the building turn him loose on 94.7 he made the Buzz worth something, another guy that is in that building who I think connects very well with any band big or a small is Jay he is on the streets with promotions and at every concert known to man kind, and also has done some very good interviews with bands in the past part of that is he has been in a band before and GETS IT. Just with those two guys you just laid the foundation of something big!

Hopefully CC will let those two take it back over and bring the buzz or something similar back to 94.7, and also anyone know how the martini is doing compared to the Ferris Spy?

Their "alternative", so to speak, would probably be to bring the GenX thing down here from Tulsa...it's got a 2.6 vs. 1.5. As Ryan noted, too much classic rock saturation; there's nothing close to GenX here, except 5 hours on Magic on Saturday nights, which sifts through the same 185 titles week after mind-numbing week. GenX has a pretty decent library, not too gigantic nor too tiny, and they have some spice songs that come up once in a blue moon. Though I'd like a GenX station here, I'd hate to see the Brew go...that's the one I listen to!

Here's the problems with the "GenX" formula: too many genres. Going from a Notorious B.I.G. song to something by Dave Matthews is a very uncomfortable transition, and it happens all too often on GenX Tulsa. Another issue: repetition. I do not listen to GenX often, but I guarantee you that if I listen to it for an hour at any given time, I will hear "Bust A Move" by Young MC. I like to think that Jonathan is doing the best he can with the programming, but it's such a gimmick station...I don't see how it can last more than maybe another year. They might be better served with a "Classic Alternative" styled format and compete with The Edge on that end. The line between Active Rock and Alternative these days is so blurred, the real alternative fans probably feel a little left out.

Gen X is the 90's version of Jack FM and is a station some one punches in and out of a lot. I like GenX but it can get repetitive really fast. And as hello4 said before the line between Active tracks and Alt tracks is very blurred you can use KDGE and KEGL in Dallas as an example of this. But CC Dallas owns the rock audience down there, between KEGL KDGE and KZPS you have them covered. Also the Brew in New Orleans just flipped to a GenX format only lasting a year as the brew. However in the very end it comes to the bottem dollar on what makes money and what does not and in today's sad state economy that is all that matters. :(

Gen-X isn't doing much better than KOOL 106.1 "Classic Top-40". Kevan was a better PD.

I like Kevan, but that "Classic Top 40" was a HORRIBLE format. GenX isn't much better, even numbers-wise, but it caters to a much more attractive demo.

Speaking of 106.1, didn't they at one point have a CP to move their stick to somewhere SE of Tulsa? I haven't seen or heard anything more from that, and it looks like they're still on their old stick near Lake Oologah.

I think Classic Alternative would make sense and would be a nich change of pace for one of the many classic rock stations in town, I think the only reason we have so many is because it looks good for the sales team when you're looking at a group buy.
