The Bridge 98.9 Poughkeepsie will move to 106.9

Looks like 98.9 WGNY will be hitting the airwaves soon :)
 
I would be shocked if Sunrise was able to put the new WGNY -FM 98.9 on the air so quickly. This would be have to be done in record time, for them. I think it is more likely that Bridgelight received notice that a full power station has a CP to displace them and they need to find a new home. I am surprised at there channel choice. It appears from their application that Bridgelight had trouble finding a suitable frequency and had to use some engineering tricks to keep from interfering with second adjacent 107.3 WRWD whose antenna is in the same tower farm. At one time 102.5 was assigned to the area as a full power station, and is currently used on weekends by a pirate station. Although the pirate interferes with WWFS NYC it is well outside 102.7 protected range. I wonder why they couldn't use that.
 
Why not? It shouldn't take that long. I heard the equipment was ordered. Why move to 102.5 when that frequency would have to be given to whoever gets 102.5?

You're the closest on this one. They had to move because the FCC issued a construction permit, which automatically displaced the translator.

Assuming you are referring to the new WGNY-FM at 98.9, yes I would expect major interference issues with first adjacent 99.1 especially in their south/west service area. They may have to find a new home too.

Beavis posted this about the same time as my response. !05.9 WQXR is very weak in Poughkeepsie now, hopefully with a directional antenna they will continue to be picked up for the 103.7 repeater.
 
Thanks Beavis for the info! WZKE at 99.1 is a waste of space. They tried it in the first place at it got almost covered by WKIP-FM's "News/Talk 99.3" due to some signal issues if you are in Kingston interfering with a WKZE's translator. I hope WKZE will have a new home at 105.9 soon if they can get rid of this madness and maybe listeners in Kingston and Poughkeepsie will get their station at 99.3 WKIP-FM.

I hope listeners in Kingston can get WGNY-FM at 98.9 very soon if they will have an oldies format as "Fox Oldies" and maybe 95.7 will go off the air soon if maybe they will have a format at 95.7 maybe a simulcast of WCBS-FM? You'll never know.

I can't wait to see the change. If WGNY-FM goes on the air, it would be an AC station as "The Fox". Is it going to compete with WRNQ's "Lite-FM" or WCZX's "Mix 97.7", or WHUD? That's a waste of AC stations, that's way too many! I checked the info on some sites that 98.9 WGNY-FM listed as an AC station. That's not gonna happen. I hope an oldies station should work.
 
Last week, when I was on my way to work, I was listening to 99.1 WKZE that it was off the air for a while, but I checked that WKIP-FM which is "News/Talk 99.3", the home of Don Imus, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage, it comes in nice and clear in Kingston. And then, WKZE came back on a few hours later at 99.1.

I hope if WKZE moves to 105.9 in a few weeks. Does it get interfered with WQSH's "Crush-FM" in Albany at 105.7? I still hear 105.7 "Crush-FM" comes in clear in Kingston. If WKZE moves to 105.9 this February, it will get a lot of interferences by "Crush-FM" in Albany.
