Maine The Bridge - Bar Harbor

Years ago, I actually had heard an aircheck of this station running an AAA styled format and really enjoyed it. Recently was looking to see if any info on it remained online and came across this:

Flagpole. (Athens, Ga.) 1987-current, February 19, 1997, Image 6

Though I didn't know it at the time, apparently Hogg got the idea from his time in Athens and brought it to Bar Harbor on 107.7 WMDI (now WBKA.) I can't imagine the sales situation during the winter would be any better today, but I've often thought it would have been nice to see AAA return to the community. Lifestyle wise it seemed a fit, though I'm of course aware that that doesn't mean it'd be fiscally feasible.

Might make sense for Star 97.7. They would own a niche that Blueberry or Townsquare probably wouldn't go after, and WZLO left the format after Stephen King shut it down and sold it to Mix Maine Media.

AAA's never been a money maker, and in an overradio'd market like Bangor/Downeast Maine didn't move the ratings needle much either.

Star OWNs the market down that way, I doubt they'd change. All the other owners are either in over their head or set in their ways. Probably would have been a good format for Binnie to do on 105.5 but they don't seem to be interested in AAA either. I think WZLO was just added value for Stephen King's operations.
