Skip Murphy's show was informative as well as funny.
That's true, but Skip's show was broken down into 3 parts.
1. 5:00a - 6:00a: Gospel, inspiration and news recap from the previous night before.
2. 6:00a - 9:00a: Fun and laughter with news mixed in as well as "I Love School" to try to encourage the kids to do well. They also did a lot of phone calls with kids and parents on the way to school. This made it fun for the entire family.
3. 9:00a - 10:00a: Adult orientated music with local, national and "hood" news. They would bring in Diane from the MLK center to talk about what was going on in the neighborhood.
The chemistry that Skip Murphy and his morning team had was not just about Skip. The key players in that formula were Wig, Sam, Nannette and Chris. They felt like members of your community and not national "personalities." They talked about the places they went around town, the new restaurants in the area, the hot clubs in the area and the important issues here in DFW.
The missing piece in the Buck Wild show is that they aren't really relatable to DFW. I hear a lot of entertainment news about a lot of celebrities that DFW doesn't care about. Sure, they want to hear about the latest entertainment news, but DFW LOVES to hear about DFW. Not about something happening in LA, NYC or Miami. They have the wrong personalities to reiterate this. DeDe works 2 jobs and doesn't really have time to have a real social life. She does the same show twice a day. Jade probably has a social life, but no one wants to hear her talk about hanging out with the Cowboys and Mavericks trying to get a date.
If they took the same approach that Kidd Kraddock takes (which is what Skip Murphy did). They talk about what's going on in Dallas. The different parts of town, the sales that are at the department stores in town and the different events here in DFW (and Kidd is a national talent).
If they brought in a local "socialite", dropped Jade (or moved her) and got a real news person and someone that is actually funny, they might have a hit show.
