The Bull: How long?

How long will 106.5 The Bull actually last in Dayton? I think 106.5 is a cursed signal, and I guess I see it staying country since it's Prem Choice and easy to run... I'd like it to go to RHY/AC, but i don't think there's a Prem Choice Rhythmic AC.... wouldn't come to small-market Dayton.

They should check out the WOW format from WOW Radio Group. Their Rhythmic AC format would be a great addition to the Dayton area. Too bad the 106.5 signal sucks so bad.

Check out the WOW format at http://www.wowradiogroup.com They're also offering a free customized Christmas Countdown. 107.9 in Indy launched their Christmas format with it and it sounded awesome! It'd be nice to hear on a station in town.

Rhythmic A/C? They've been there done that. I imagine they'll ride the country format until they can sell it out of the Aloha trust. It's not so much that 106.5 is a cursed frequency; it's just too far away. It'll sell to a religious operator, possibly be a Richmond IN move-in, or someone will have to decide they want to be a West Central Ohio powerhouse, selling to mom and pop type businesses in a four county area.

WOW just launched earlier this year. I know they're actively looking for affliliates. Unfortunately, most companies are resistant to change...

I always enjoy listening to WCSM out of Celina when I am in that area; wishful thinking I know, but maybe WCSM could buy the 106.5 frequency and increase their reach by 60 miles. I don't think 106.5 is a bad signal it is easily listenable as far north as Lima and albeit with static can still be picked up as far south as Springboro.

I've never had a problem picking up 106.5 in the Springfield area...ever.  gr8 is right on Rhythmic AC...anyone remember Jammin' 106.5(Calls were WDJO-FM)?  Didn't think so.  It did awful in the ratings.  The only thing to ever do any numbers off that signal has been Smooth Jazz.  Too bad that format is dead in the water.  Look for CC to stick with The Bull until it's sold.  I still think it's stupid to have 4 Country signals in the market(K-99, Kiss Country, The Bull, and The Rebel), but at least it ain't as bad as the 6(Count 'em!)Country signals in and around Columbus.

Mr. Coe (WCSM) is not buying another signal, especially for a couple million. Cmon its 2009 and hes still in mono and using the jingles he bought in 1977

That's wierd you say the signal sucks there. Believe it or not I used to pick this station up on the far East Side of Indianapolis and far East side of Hamilton County in Indiana when it was Smooth Jazz. During the day it was not very clear but at night I could pick it up like it was a local channel. When they took Smooth Jazz away from Indy I listened to 106.5 Dayton in my car. I haven't tried to pick it up though since they changed to country.

Maybe he (Mr. Coe) could negotiate that CC throw in some used equipment along with a jingle allowance :D WOW those WCSM jingles are from 1977? I was guessing them to be from the late 80's not the late 70's; I bet WCSM is a cash cow they seem to have no problem selling ad's I heard from several folks in that area they enquired about advertising during high school football and school delays and were told by WCSM that they were SOLD OUT. Then again I hear they are pretty cheap to advertise on, the one guy said for a basketball game they quoted $45 per game which is 2 30 second spots and multiple mentions during the game.

For the 106.5 frequency, its just unfortunate that a local broadcaster probably won't be able to ever afford it, and even if they could probably couldn't turn a profit on it, and it will likely just continue to be off the bird like it has been for most of the past 10 years.

More than likely Coe will hang on to WCSM until he is ready to retire; I don't see him buying anything else. The jingles are TM's You II package
