The Bull MIA

Wow did anyone see the CMA Music Festival on ABC last night? Kicks owned the night the Bull was no where in sight. The pre-show was awesome and clearly showed Kicks as the dominate player in the Atlanta country arena.
Is the Bull out of gun powder? If so they sure didn’t get much bang for all the bucks they poured into TV.

The Bull just can't decide which way to run!
There seems to be no rhyme or reason when they play certain elements and no consistancy.
And the statio has that signature "Jacor/ClearChannel/Cincinnatti" sound......it just doesn't have the right "sound." The jocks all have junior voices.....not a set of pipes to be heard. I hate the "electronic" sounding backsell on some(not all)of the music -
WKHX and Eagle are, by far, better products IMO! But there are weaknesses which could be exploited by a savy programmer.....possibly after the "Bull" debacle there will be worthy competition.

7 months in (give or take a few days) and the Bull still has that processed, compressed "web stream" sound quality. If one didn't know better you'd think maybe they ARE piping it in from out of market. I find it hard to listen to them for very long. There's just nothing to connect with.

I'm not apologizing for The Bull, but I'm pretty sure Kicks was the (paid) sponsor of that broadcast. I saw a number of promos on WSB-TV saying, "...brought to you by Kicks 101-5." If that was the case, The Bull couldn't have shown up if it had wanted to.

...paid or not, whats the difference...its aggressive, and not diminished by sponsorship. FIrst show was a big win, CMA broadcast itself, plain marketing

One thing is for certain...you don't have to leave market 9 to hear small town rookie radio. Imaging, Jocks, Processing...all of it. Clear Channel makes competing fun!

Kristin Gates and Caddilac Jack hosted the WSB-TV produced preshow along with David Chandley.

Kicks was the exclusive partner (don't know if Kicks paid WSB-TV or not). The Bull was excluded for obvious reasons.

Besides...Cox's Radio division hates Clear Channel anyway (although there is no reason to...Cox comes out on top every time). Remember the prank CC pulled on B98.5 a few years ago involving then all-80's WMAX.

My post wasn't meant to be critical of Kicks. I was just pointing out why The Bull wasn't there.

I'm not sure it was a "prank" but in typical Cheap Channel style, they went 80's when B98 (Big 80's Weekend), Star(Friday Night 80's), and 99X ()that Steve guy's show in Mid-days) had pretty much fried the market with 80's music.

When CC flipped whatever it was then to “80’s to the Max”, they bought time on B985 promoting it by disguising it as one of those K-Tel Records spots. Don’t remember how long the spots ran before someone at Cox woke up and pulled the plug. Don’t give CC much credit for the stunt. Chuck Blore did the same thing in the 60’s. I know, someone will ask who Chuck Blore is. Got Google?

Corporate synergy to a point. Kicks 101.5 was owned by ABC Radio until Citadel took over last month.

Also, 94.9 The Bull is now the Braves' (co-)flagship.
