The Bulldog "Punch the Clock" Morning Show

Am I the only person to miss this show in the morning? I found their mix of music, talk, jokes, and news to be near perfect. Other stations either have too much talking that isn't interesting or funny or too little talk to be interesting.

I miss the "Punch the Clown" morning show... Project 9-6-1 cancelled it last week...

They will be missed very much and deserve big props for the job they did.

If I'd been their PD, I would have tightened up the talk time a bit as they could lapse into rambling at times... but, even given that criticism I'd have to rank them as one of - if not THE - best overall morning show ever for the Athens market. That includes the ones I put together, and others I grew up listening to such as Gerry Marshall.

I hope they do well. They deserved a better fate, but it's why so many of us "got out while the getting was good".

Kris Harris was a constant on the Bulldog's (100.1 & 103.7) morning show for approximately 8 years (maybe closer to ten). Kris & Evan made it fun in the mornings. I particularly enjoyed hearing the local police blotter and well as the police report from the small town in Montana. Does anyone know if Kris and/or Evan this past Saturday was Firing Up the Dawgs? Papa John's Pizza on Baxter Street in Athens was the sponsor for this on the Bulldog & the Bulldog was a constant for this promotion for many years now. I still say Cox Radio messed up big time!!!

The rambling is what made the show unique. They were spontaneous and creative. Too many morning shows lapse into a formulaic approach. I admit that there were times when Kris and Evan would push the decency envelope but even then they rarely if ever crossed the uncrossable line. To me, Kris and Evan sounded more like two regular radio guys having a good time talking and spinning records rather than "professionals" just doing their job. They sounded genuine and like they really enjoyed being on the radio.

I agree, and it's really what I was saying overall.

Interesting that you called them "two regular guys" on the radio, because they did fit that definition much more than any incarnation of the ATL morning show branded to be that.

I don't think they ever crossed the decency line for the target audience, which shows they had the built in live producer in their mindset to reign it in when needed... No doubt, with a little guidance they could have also developed the same to keep some of the going in circles banter tighter and conciser to make short attention span audience members and an old programmer like me happy, too.

One cool thing about Kris and Evan, I had no clue as to what their personal politics were. They came across as being apolitical occasional critics of stupid government.

Kris and Evan are good,I didn't get tol isten a whole lot to Bulldog but they seem like good radio personalties,if the sales people couldn't sell the ads then they should be the ones fired. Neil Boortz said one time the Cox company policy says tghat sales people must make atleast a half a million in sales or they get fired.
