The "Business" of Radio

The business, though very important, has taken over my Art / Craft / Trade so much that FM stock prices are down to 50 cents each. This is not new. As a matter of fact if you talk with many veteran radio people they will tell you that radio hasn't been any fun for them for 20 years.

I put SyracuseBroadcast.com on the internet in 1999 because of that. Sales are very important but we need to have the right balance. These days, we can HEAR how watered-down and mixed up FM radio sounds. Music started with one person, inventing a song on a guitar for example, and playing it for another person or a crowd of people. Not by what a nestle' crunch bar wants to be drummed into our ears. The song became popular because people enjoyed it. Music is not "work" to me. People tune into radio at work to get a break from having to be "perfect" while punched in. Music is the fun part of the day so "imperfect" is not only ok, it is expected.
