The Buzz Request-a-thon

I'm suprised no one has mentioned this but The Rod Ryan show has been on the air for over 40 hours now raising money for the relief efforts in Louisana. Doing the pay for play thing they did for the Tsunami victims last year.
At midnight they passed their goal of $250,000 and are now going for $300,000. Just awesome. I wish I had tape to roll on this. I just found out earlier today that this was going on. I had hoped they would do it again because it was such a great thing before. Why not do it again.

The first time I heard this stunt was on WDVE/Pittsburgh a couple of years ago, and I thought it was awesome. DVE like "The Buzz" is a Clear Channel station, and as much grief as I give CC, this is one of their shining moments. Kudos to CC and "The Buzz". <P ID="signature">______________

The Arf (Mike Arford) started doing this on WFYV Jacksonville years and years ago. I recall being at the station for several days in a row supporting him as far back as 1990, and it was something he'd done several times before that. We were all sleeping under desks and in the conference room, while he was jogging around the building between songs to stay awake. Good work, anytime anyone pulls it off.

They will probably end up raising half of a million dollars within the next few hours.

Nobody else is currently raising money in this fashion and yet it's getting no press.

This has been some of the most enjoyable radio I've ever listened to, except for the William Hung that is playing right now. I have a partial playlist that I can post a bit later.

It's old school, but it works. You can't criticize the guy! Too bad he can't get more press out of it. Unfortunately, CC doesn't really know how to get PR out of anything they do in Houston.

Check here for a recent playlist: http://stoneage.yes.com/ I've heard everything from Vanilla Ice to William Hung to Cartman (off of Chef Aid/SouthPark) and back again. It's nice to hear.

> I was checking over the playlist, The Buzz sounds like truly a Jack/Bob station. All these great songs in one place. Keep up the work, Buzz! Here's to the victims who are living much better now than they were back in N.O.
