The Buzzard back?

I noticed that on the WMMS website, which previously, as of yesterday had this as the html title "100.7 WMMS - Cleveland. Ohio." Now as of today, it has this "Cleveland's Rock Station: 100.7 WMMS: THE BUZZARD". An error, maybe, but who knows.

Check it out for yourself. www.wmms.com

WMMS should use this Buzzard... circa 2005 from a short-lived long-sleeve tee promotion. I got my tee from former WMMS Promo Guru Munch Bishop. Never been worn :D

I think this Buzzard would be perfect for the WMMS of today. Better than the logo currently being used.

I could personally do without the "killer rock"... at first glance it looks like "Hitler rock".

Also, I don't recall where I read this, but the original artist who created the Buzzard had offered to create WMMS a new updated version of the logo (for free), but they declined by not contacting him. I believe he created it anyway. Curious what it looks like.

I did some searching and found source for my above comment. The article is written by Plain Dealer writer Michael Heaton, son of former Plain Dealer wrtier Chuck Heaton. "Brian Chalmers is a graphic artist for WKYC Channel 3 who used to draw the Buzzard for WMMS. He noticed recently he hadn't seen the bird in a while.

"I came up with some new designs emphasizing the Buzzard's ties to Cleveland. I sent them over to the station and told them they could have them to use for free," Chalmers said."

So if anyone knows a way to contact Brian Chalmers, it would be great to see the new logo.

Also for further reading, this is interesting, but dated.

I gotta say I DO like the website. Except the cheesy rip off of the Harley-Davidson logo.

The link, on the "girls" menu, to http://www.hotchicksontoilets.com/ really shows how avant garde Clearchannel has become.

Going backward to bring back the mediocre (on a good day) Maria shows they don't have a clue.

WMMS is a dead, pathetic, embarrassing, joke. A parody of what it once was. As long as it is owned by Clearchannel, it will continue to suck. I must say, it is fun to watch Clearchannel fail.

David Helton is the creator of The Buzzard mascot. Helton was working at American Greetings in the early 70s when he sent some cartoon strips to WMMS PD John Gorman. Read Gorman's book

Chalmers later worked as Helton's understudy and when Helton left WMMS Chalmers took over.

The Buzzard IS back!

Chuck, this is on the front page of WMMS' website - for the "Buzzard Army"... It sure look like they like the Skull Buzzard, doesn't it?

It's safe to say that the Buzzard is flying back to 100.7 very gradually. But it looks really cool, IMHO. :)

I don't know if anyone heard this or not, but last night the 12 A.M ID they played the "WMMS Le Buzzard" ID. Maybe it is back. I have heard Seth the Barbarian use it alot, I don't know if this is out of habbit, or on purpose.
