The Candelabra, Tower 128 and The Pru

The question is this, what stations are comming off the Pru, 128 and the Candelabra? Also, is anything comming off the Hancock?

I know that Mix and Jam'n' used to come off 128, right?

Can we have a list please, does anyone know?

Pru is 100.7 WZLX, 104.1 WBCN, 107.9 WXKS-FM, 92.9 WBOS, 105.7 WROR, 106.7 WMJX, 96.9 WTKK, and 68 WBPX-TV. WJMN had a CP to go up there, but never did.

Hancock is just 101.3 W283AI, the WFNX translator. Most of the other big stations are over at 128, along with backups for most of the Pru stations.

I don't think any FM's currently transmit from the UHF-TV "Candelabra".

The only thing still on the Hancock is the WFNX translator W267AI at 101.3, which will be deleted when WFNX moves their main transmitter at 101.7 to One Financial Place.

Here's my impromtu, incomplete list off the top of my head of some Boston area FM transmitter sites:

88.1 WMBR - Eastgate Building, MIT/Kendall Square, Cambridge.
88.9 WERS - One Financial Place, Boston (near South Station).
89.7 WGBH - Great Blue Hill, Milton/Canton line.
90.3 WZBC - Cheverus Dormitory, Boston College Upper Campus, Chestnut Hill.
90.9 WBUR - FM-128, Newton/Needham line (Backup on Boston University Law Building).
91.5 WMFO - Ballou Hall, Tufts University, Medford.
91.5 WUML - Fox Hall, University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
91.9 WUMB - An old hollowed stone water tower off Quarry St., Quincy.
92.9 WBOS - Prudential Tower, Boston (Backup on FM-128).
94.5 WJMN - FM-128, Newton/Needham line (Low power backup on Prudential Tower?)
95.3 WHRB - One Financial Place, Boston (near South Station).
95.9 WATD - Marshfield Town Dump (We're At The Dump).
96.1 WSRS - Asnebumskit Hill, Paxton MA.
96.3 W242AA//WGBH - Eastgate Building, MIT/Kendall Square, Cambridge.
96.9 WTKK - Prudential Tower, Boston (Backup on FM-128?).
97.7 WILD-FM - Great Blue Hill, Milton/Canton line.
98.5 WBMX - FM-128, Newton/Needham line.
100.1 WBRS - Rabb Graduate Center, Brandeis University, Waltham.
100.7 WZLX - Prudential Tower, Boston
101.7 WFNX - Off Fellsway near Hospital, Medford/Malden line (CP - One Financial Place, Boston).
102.5 WCRB - FM-128, Newton/Needham line.
103.3 WODS - FM-128, Newton/Needham line.
104.1 WBCN - Prudential Tower, Boston
105.7 WROR - Prudential Tower, Boston (Backup on FM-128)
106.7 WMJX - Prudential Tower, Boston (Backup on FM-128).
107.3 WAAF - Asnebumskit Hill, Paxton MA.
107.9 WXKS-FM - Prudential Tower, Boston

The WFNX translator is actually W267AI ("W283AI" would be on 104.5).

And to add to Eli's comprehensive list, all four of the Greater Media Pru FMs (92.9/96.9/105.7/106.7) have backup facilities at FM128.

FM128, which began life as the WHDH-TV 5 tower, is also a TV tower again, though few people realize it. It's home to WBPX-DT 32, as well as the LPTV on 24.

To forestall the inevitable question:

350 Cedar Street, Needham: WGBH-TV2/DT19, WBZ-TV4/DT30, WCVB-TV5/DT20, WSBK-DT39, WGBX-TV44/DT43

Candelabra, Cabot St., Needham: WFXT-TV25/DT31, WSBK-TV38, WLVI-TV56/DT41

Tower Drive, Newton: WHDH-TV7/DT42

FM128: WBPX-DT32, CP for WMFP-TV18

Pru: WBPX-TV68

One Beacon Street, Boston: WMFP-TV62

Stiles Hill, Boylston: WUNI-TV27/DT29

Ch. 66 tower, Marlborough: WUTF-TV66/DT23<P ID="signature">______________

Isn't there a WCRN-LP on tower #1 of the WCRN (AM) array in Leicester? I don't know what channel WCRN-LP is on or what channel WCRN-DT is or will be on--assuming that there is or will be a WCRN-DT. For that matter, if there is or will be a WCRN-DT, will it also transmit from the WCRN (AM) site? Mt Asnebumskit would seem to be a much better site if there is room there. Maybe there was going to be room there but now there isn't with WAAF apparently not moving to W Boyleston. There are three 300' AM towers at the WCRN (AM) site. There was supposed to be a fourth but it doesn't appear that that is going to happen.

I know that. I mistakingly put that there.

Thanks Eli!
